Coordinates and oversees the overall activities of The Orchard School summer camp program and provides appropriate feedback and reports, as required, to Orchard management.  Must have the flexibility to accommodate peak and valley schedule, with lowest hours being in the fall and peaks in January, June and July.

 • Coordinates the daily activities of the summer camp, including the development and implementation of project components. 
• Ensures the performance goals and schedule of the camp are met, as ratified by Orchard management and governance structures.  Develops and submits reports to the management as required.
• Maintains the budget and fiscal integrity of the project and ensures that revenues and expenses comply with management directions.  Develops budget annually in accordance with directives of the Orchard Finance Committee.
• Interviews, hires, trains and supervises camp coordinators and counselors.
• Develops a working relationship with the Administrative Assistant for the camp program   Conducts annual written reviews for the assistant by September 30 of each year.
• Works closely with families of incoming campers to accommodate a variety of things such as learning differences, behavioral concerns, allergies and other issues as they arise.
• Develops, coordinates, schedules, and oversees a multi-faceted summer camp program that operates approximately 100 week-long camp offerings per summer and serves 1200 campers per summer.
• Receives summer camp registrations and sorts data and money according to established procedure.  Inspects forms.  Inputs all appropriate information into database.  Sends money and copy of the registration form directly to the Business Office within 48 hours of receipt.  Coordinates on-line payment process with the Business Office.
• Manages inquires – walk-ins, telephone, cancellations or e-mail – and responds within 24 hours.
• Collaborates with Orchard's Public Relations department in the design and layout of the summer camp brochure, the T-shirt design, and design and placement of advertising.  Prepares text, writeups of camp offerings and fee schedules for publication.  Ensures the summer camp catalog is completed on schedule and distributed accordingly.
• Supervises the performance of coordinators, counselors, assistants, and trainees on a daily basis during the summer camp program season.  Coordinates activities with maintenance and custodial staff, parents, teachers, and administrators.
• Supervises the performance of outside educators associated with each camp session.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

• At least five (5) years of experience in education, recreation, or related occupations.  Specific summer camp experience strongly preferred.
• Prefer at least one (1) year of supervisory experience in one of the above job settings.
• Requires the ability to manage a budget while developing the camp program.
• Business office computer skills strongly preferred, especially desktop publishing or similar software.  Strong writing and organizational skills necessary, including the ability to multi-task.
• Must agree philosophically with the mission and strategic aims of The Orchard School.  Requires the ability to work with all ages of people.
• Must be able to pass a criminal history check, including no child-related offenses ever.
