The Edna Martin Christian Center, as sub-grantee of the United Way of Central Indiana's Great Families 2020 initiative, seeks to hire a Data Specialist.

Great Families 2020 is a five-year initiative to improve family stability for vulnerable children and their parents living in four neighborhoods in Indianapolis.  Great Families 2020 is modeled from the promising practice of the "Two Generation" approach, where neighborhood networks in education, financial stability and health services are integrated to serve the whole family.  This is a federally funded effort by the Corporation for National & Community Service (CNCS) through the Social Innovation Fund (SIF). United Way (Federal Award Number: 16SIHIN001 and CFDA No: 94.019) received a sub-award of $7 million to implement the initiative by contracting with local not-for-profit entities.  More information regarding Great Families 2020 can be found on the United Way of Central Indiana website:

The Data Specialist will lead efforts to collect, organize, scrub, validate, and otherwise prepare large data sets for the program. The Data Specialist will update and maintain a complex database of confidential information to ensure current and accurate information using systems such as Efforts to Outcomes (ETO), Salesforce, or other databases.

Position Description
Specifically, the Data Specialist will:
• Uphold the data sharing agreement across collaborative agencies and the funder's designated management/evaluation team;
• Interact with external partners to respond to data requests and other analytic needs;
• Maintain confidentiality of all data and secure/protect source data;
• Upload/enter data into ETO and CRM database;
• Analyze and interpret results using standard statistical tools and techniques;
• Pinpoint trends, correlations and patterns in data set;
• Identify new opportunities for process improvement;
• Create customized performance reports that aggregate results for management and local funders;
• Design comprehensive data reports and other agency tools to assist agency managers and executives in making good agency decisions;
• Present research results both in written and verbal communications;
• Help train internal and external partners on data-entry and data integrity;
• Work with select community partners in the Data Integration initiative
• Document structure of agency data which serves as a guide in execution of tasks;
• Evaluate agency data to identify their distinctive characteristics and locate their similarities to find ways they can be integrated for better results;
• Arrange anomalies of consumption and identify errors in data and take measures to resolve them.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred. Experience in using relational databases, preferably eTapestry or similar CRM database, and Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database. Must possess a high level of computer proficiency and knowledge of various computer and database software, with particular skill in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint. SQL language desirable. Excellent analytical skills - define problems, research and collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
