Stand for Children Indiana seeks a talented and dynamic Marketing and Communications Director to expand the reach and effectiveness of our mission by elevating and promoting the voice of Stand for Children as a leader in education advocacy.

To make that happen, we educate and empower parents, teachers, and community members to demand excellent public schools and improve the odds for our students. Together, we advocate for strong policies at the state and local level, elect education champions who will keep children at the center of their policy priorities, and follow through to ensure new policies are effectively implemented in public school classrooms.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Build and implement strategy to advance and support the impact goals of the local Stand for Children affiliate
•         Developing and executing on a robust communications and marketing strategy to ensure an overarching and high-impact communications and digital communications plan in support of all advocacy, legislative/electoral and community engagement efforts;
•         Conducting market specific qualitative research to inform strategic communication outreach to target audiences;
•         Producing content for communications that will support fundraising and campaign goals;
•         Editing a range of organizational and local written materials to ensure clarity, conciseness, and effectiveness;

* Build and promote Stand for Children's brand through people-oriented storytelling
•         Creating compelling, persuasive, relevant, and accurate communications content that will increase visitors' engagement with the organization and build community support for improving schools;
•         Building the profile of Stand for Children as a leading political voice in education advocacy and motivating parents, educators, and concerned community leaders to get involved;
•         Creating awareness campaigns that utilize innovative social media tools to engage members of the community most effectively;
•         Ensuring that all content is in alignment with Stand for Children's brand and adhere to network-wide messaging guidelines;

*  Build and leverage public relations and earned media opportunities
•         Cultivating and maintaining media contacts for disseminating press releases, gaining earned media and leveraging public relations opportunities;
•         Tracking Stand's local and state media coverage.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•         Passionate and unwavering belief in Stand for Children's mission and strategy to ensure that all children, regardless of their background, graduate from high school prepared for and with access to a college education;
•         Five years' experience in communications and/or marketing (political campaigns, digital strategies or cause marketing experience a plus);
•         Collaborative, learning-oriented leader adept at planning proactive short- and long-term communications strategies and high-impact tactical approaches;
•         Skilled at developing straightforward, clear and persuasive arguments and content that resonates with a diverse audience;
•         Comprehensive and rapid problem-solving skills to effectively handle crisis communications;
•         Strategic understanding of the use of social media in today's media landscape, including Twitter, Facebook, and the role of blogs in policy discourse;
•         Outstanding and fast writing and editing skills, excellent planning and organization, exceptional attention to detail, high sense of urgency and flexibility with shifting priorities;
•         Knowledge of public education issues and/or experience creating political advocacy campaigns;
•         Familiarity with state political and legislative environment and context highly preferred;
•         Proven success with earned media placement and PR efforts, prepping staff and stakeholders for interviews, and managing brand and narrative;
•         Existing relationships with local press and media is a plus;
•         Spanish fluency is a plus;
•         Ability to be stationary for extended periods of time and ability to travel to meetings outside of the office; May require the ability to climb stairs.
