UWCI has four priorities: education, financial stability, health and basic needs.  With 89 partner agencies and numerous community partners, UWCI works toward these priorities on education and human services initiatives to fulfill our mission of helping people learn more, earn more and lead safe and healthy lives. This AmeriCorps*VISTA member position provides program design and administrative leadership around family engagement, program evaluation, training, and the development of a community of practice. 

Position Duties & Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Great Families 2020 Program Officers and the onsite Great Families 2020 program staff, the Great Families 2020 AmeriCorps*VISTA member will:

• Develop and implement training models and content for staff and sub grantees
• Foster peer-to-peer learning among sub grantee staff
• Identify and implement models and practices for the effective operation of various partner groups (e.g., an advisory group or stakeholders group, a funders group, etc.).
• Develop innovative cross-program and cross-agency collaborative practices
• Build agencies' fund development capacity through assessment of gaps and needs and development of capacity building plans
• Work with sub grantee to identify their data collection and analysis needs; develop training and technical assistance plan to address those needs and connect them to resources to implement
• Develop and implement family engagement practices, including recruitment of eligible families from the neighborhoods to participate in GF 2020, developing and implementing structures and practices that engage families and community members in program planning, oversight and evaluation, and developing and implementing assessments to determine the factors that either promote or inhibit ongoing family and community engagement
• Increase sub grantees' fund development capacity through assessment of gaps and needs and development of capacity building plans.
• Submit a timesheet to report service hours once every two weeks

To successfully complete this AmeriCorps*VISTA term of service, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be physically present at the assigned site.  The requirements listed below are representative of the basic knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

• Strong interest in social services and family strengthening
• Dedication to community service and willingness to commit to a full-time term of AmeriCorps*VISTA service
• Computer skills, including the ability to navigate database systems and email
• Speak, read and write English fluently
• Responsible, organized, flexible, motivated, professional
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to make a commitment to complete at least one year of service (September 2017-August 2018)
• Successful completion of a full NSCHC background check

Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor's degree preferred; some postsecondary education with applicable experience will be considered
• U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident alien
