The Site Director is a part-time position requiring approximately 15-30 hours per week

Under the direction of the Creative Classroom Connections Program Manager, the Site Director performs the following functions:
1. Liaison between AWaH and participating classrooms in a school site
2. Coordinator of volunteers for implementation of the program at the school served
3. Manager of materials and resources for lesson implementation
4. Champion for excellence and integrity in the delivery of the program at the school served

Responsibilities

Liaison:
• Participates in training to develop thorough understanding of implementation expectations at the school site
• Builds positive relationships through on-going communication with AWaH staff, classroom  teachers and other school personnel, volunteers, and families as needed
• Practices and communicates program policies and procedures as well as school policies and procedures to volunteers, ensuring integrity of the program and safety of all children
• Interacts with children in a positive manner, showing sensitivity to all children's needs

Coordinator of Volunteers:
• Assists volunteer manager in organizing and scheduling volunteers to implement the program
• Maintains communication with volunteers regarding scheduling and coverage needed
• Problem-solves barriers to scheduling and implementation of lessons on a weekly basis
• Assists volunteers and teachers in the classroom as needed

Manager of Materials and Resources:
• Supports teachers in the maintenance of materials
• Coordinates materials replenishment needs with AWaH staff
• Anticipates and communicates needs to teachers and AWaH staff in a timely manner

Champion for Excellence and Integrity:
• Observes in classrooms on a regular basis, providing feedback to support quality implementation of lessons and positive volunteer engagement of students
• Plans and/or assists with school events involving AWaH program or presentation of art works
• Assists with assessment and documentation as directed
• Projects a positive role model for children
• Projects a professional demeanor as a representative of AWaH in the school

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
 
General/Special Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to:

• Demonstrate initiative in all aspects of the Site Director position
• Communicate clearly both orally and in writing with all stakeholders involved in the program
• Provide guidance to classroom teachers implementing the program at various stages
• Demonstrate excellent organizational skills
• Demonstrate pro-active problem solving skills
• Provide a positive role model for children
• Be sensitive to the varying needs of children in multiple classrooms
• Demonstrate prior experience working with children or articulate related abilities
• Work independently and as part of a team
• Manage adult volunteers
• Demonstrate or articulate abilities related to art or education programming

Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications WORD and OUTLOOK

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports to the Creative Classroom Connections Program Manager

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical
Work is changing often in response to client needs. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force regularly and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Occasional instances require kneeling, crouching, reaching.  Normal conditions will require regular standing, walking, typing, talking, and hearing.

Visual Acuity
Work requires close visual acuity to prepare reports, correspondence, view computer monitor, and read printed material of varying font sizes.

Environmental Conditions
Work is performed in the Indianapolis area. Reliable vehicle required with provisions for safe travel and breakdown. Employees are advised to have 'work use' coverage on their automobile insurance. Temperature conditions may vary from season to season within the building, not all client locations will have air conditioning.
 
QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Level:

Desired: Bachelor's Degree in Art Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or a closely related area
Will Consider: 2 years completed higher education in one of the above areas with additional related work experiences

Related Experience:

Required: 1 year of related work experience
Desirable: Background or experience in one or all of the following: Classroom management, volunteer management, training or support role for classroom teachers, collaborative curriculum development
