The Assistant Director of Donor Relations will join the Donor Relations team in planning and executing Butler's institution-wide comprehensive donor relations and stewardship program. The Assistant Director is responsible for tactical execution of the plan and creating meaningful opportunities to engage, thank, and retain current and future donors.

The University offers an array of professional and pre-professional programs through six degree-granting colleges: Liberal Arts and Sciences, Business, Communication, Education, Fine Arts, and Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Project Management
• Execute bi-weekly acknowledgments for leadership level gifts of $2,500 to $24,999
• Manage process to recognize first-time donors and in honor/in memory gifts
• Assist Annual Giving in delivering their portions of the acknowledgment plan
• Collaborate with director, Marketing and Communications, and other leaders to help design, create, and produce acknowledgment content and material
• Make recommendations for improvement in acknowledgment project flow and tracking
• Ensure that all acknowledgment touches are recorded in Advance

 Gift Agreements
• Facilitate gift agreement process
o Work with Development staff to complete agreement worksheets and initial planning stage
o Draft and review gift agreements
o Route completed gift agreements for approval and signatures
o Coordinate with Associate Director to set up and document new fund

Annual Giving Liaison
• Assist Annual Giving to coordinate annual gift acknowledgment process and stewardship with the goal of increasing retention and promoting gift upgrades
• Coordinate annual scholarship documentation and stewardship
• Ensure annual donors are receiving appropriate donor recognition and benefits

Donor Recognition/Engagement Events
• Manage ad hoc events (tailgates and other partner events) that serve to recognize and engage donors
• Assist Director in planning and executing core annual events and other donor recognition efforts

Team Support
• Ensure all donor relations and stewardship efforts are recorded in Advance
• Provide direction to the student worker

• Bachelor's degree required
• One to two years of professional experience in higher education or the non-profit sector
• An understanding of higher education and/or non-profit fundraising, donor relations, and stewardship preferred
• Demonstrated foundation in project management, fundraising and event planning
• Strong interpersonal and written communications skills with demonstrated attention to detail and ability to coordinate people and handle multiple deadline driven projects at one
• Exceptional customer- donor service
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills required
• Tact, discretion, and prudence in working with confidential and sensitive data
• Computer software skills, including Microsoft Office and planned giving software is required, and knowledge of integrated client database systems is preferred
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary
