The mission of Fair Haven is to share the love of Jesus Christ by providing gracious hospitality to seriously-ill patients and their families traveling to Indianapolis for advanced medical treatment.  We are seeking a Director/Coordinator of Development who shares a passion for our mission and core values, and who works with excellence and professionalism in the area of development.  This position will report to the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities
The Director/Coordinator of Development will advance the mission of the organization by increasing community awareness and support.  A key role of this development position will be the development of strong, long-term relationships with donors, board members, volunteers, and others.  This position includes responsibilities in donor cultivation and stewardship, program marketing and communications, special event planning and execution, and execution of the annual fundraising plan.

The Director/Coordinator of Development works with the Executive Director to organize and plan prospect cultivation, solicitation, and major gifts for Fair Haven. This position works with the ED on meetings with donors, conducting presentations, and supporting the ED's major gift work with prospects with an affinity for the organization's mission.  Initiation, stewardship, and cultivation of relationships with new and existing donors are primary components of the position.  The ideal candidate will be passionate and committed about working in a nonprofit environment and will place a high value on relationships with people.

The Director/Coordinator of Development will engage businesses, churches, civic groups, and the healthcare community in advancing the mission of Fair Haven. 

This position is responsible for establishing and implementing best practice policies for gift giving, solicitation and record keeping, including the administration of the donor database.  The position may include some responsibilities for reporting to accounting and key performance indicator reporting.

The Director/Coordinator of Development is responsible for implementing the fundraising plan.  This annual plan includes direct mail annual appeals and regular electronic communications, including website, social media, quarterly newsletter, and press releases. The Director/Coordinator of Development is responsible to create a complete event plan for special events, in coordination and oversight of volunteer committees: creating event materials, soliciting sponsorships, managing event logistics, and compiling post-event reports. 

As Fair Haven moves forward with the launch of a capital campaign for the construction of a new facility to provide lodging for patients and their families, this position will have significant responsibilities in working with the Executive Director and the campaign committee in the development and implementation of the campaign.

• Minimum bachelor's degree in business or related field
• At least two years of nonprofit fundraising experience preferred
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required
• Skills:  This position requires a strong background in successful fundraising and special event planning. The Director/Coordinator of Development should possess a sound knowledge of fundraising principles, ethics and practices. Good communication and organizational skills as well as proficiency with office technology; knowledge or aptitude for donor database software administration.
