The Indianapolis School of Ballet is seeking a motivated Director of Development for the exciting launch of the professional ballet company. Reporting to the Artistic Director, this position develops and manages all funding functions for student enrollment, productions, the summer intensive program and special events.

The mission of Indianapolis School of Ballet is to advance professional ballet and dance education in our community through world-class training and dynamic performances provided in a culturally diverse environment designed for the continual physical, intellectual, emotional, and artistic growth of all dancers.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plans, coordinates and assures implementation of strategies to develop donors and contributions.
• Responsible for overseeing and creating all grant writing initiatives, grant compliance, and reports for the organization.
• Plans and coordinates special events with volunteer support and board members.
• Maintains accountability and compliance standards for donors, sponsors, and funding sources.
• Creates and manages budget for development income and expense line items. Track expenditures.
• Manages new donor database in Bloomerang by processing donations, updating donor information, and facilitating donor acknowledgement letters.
• Establishes relationships with current and prospective donors. Seeks out potential corporate sponsors and grant opportunities.
• Collaborates with the Artistic Director, board members, and Director of Marketing and Communications to develop strategies and goals.
• Schedule development committee meetings and recruit members.
• Attend performances to establish and maintain relationship with patrons.
• Takes initiative to assist with other job functions as needed for the organization.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Four-year degree and 3+ years of relevant professional work experience in fundraising, grant writing, and relationship building. Experience or knowledge in the performing arts industry is strongly preferred.
• Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills are required.
• Event management experience is preferred.
• Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Power Point) and Bloomerang.
• Demonstrated ability to create multi-year development plans, set objectives, and achieve goals.
• A Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential is preferred.
