The Children's TherAplay Foundation, Inc. has an immediate opening for a part-time (20 hours a week) assistant in the Medical Billing Department.  The hours needed would be Wednesday and Friday 8:00 am – 6:00 pm with an unpaid hour for lunch.
Located in Carmel, Indiana, The Children's TherAplay Foundation is a not-for-profit outpatient pediatric rehabilitation clinic providing physical and occupational therapies for children with special needs ranging in age from 18 months to 13 years old. A unique aspect of Children's TherAplay's programs is that we incorporate the movement of horses (known as hippotherapy ) as a therapy tool during physical and occupational treatments.

-Foster and maintain excellent professional relationships with patients, providers and colleagues;
-Review and process insurance and patient claims;
-Review denials, correct errors and resubmit claims;
-Respond to patient inquiries relative to insurance billing and assist with all medical insurance billing questions from patients;
-Maintain the computer billing file maintenance;
-Electronic Submission of primary, secondary, tertiary claims;
-Data entry;
-Insurance verification of benefits and eligibility; invoicing;
-Post payments;
-Invoice clients;
-Process credit card payments;
-Other billing related duties as requested.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS: First Aid and CPR (preferred but not mandatory) 

-The ability multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
-The ability to represent the organization in a professional manner at all times;
-The ability to demonstrate organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail;
-The ability to use clear, effective communication skills;
-The ability to adhere to current confidentiality practices (HIPAA);
-The ability to tolerate barn environment including dust and animals.

-Minimum of 5 years billing experience in a busy, non-profit or pediatric outpatient clinic or primary care practice preferred;
-Proficient with medical terminology, CPT and ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding;
-Working knowledge of medical insurance reimbursement;
-Extensive knowledge of current payor website utilization.

-Consistent, orderly approach to the work;
-Helpful, accommodating approach to meeting the needs of internal and external clients;
-Precise and accurate with details, reports and forms;
-Clear, succinct communicator;
-Ability to work independently;
-Highly Proficient and Experienced on EMR software and in Microsoft: Outlook, Word, Excel
