The primary responsibilities of the Associate Director of Development are to work with the Assistant Dean of Development and Alumni Relations serving as a frontline fundraiser while also helping to manage the day-to-day operations of the development office.

Located on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy builds on the strength of thirty years of research, training and outreach activity.

The incumbent will be responsible for developing fundraising strategies to support the work of the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and overseeing this type of work for the entire development staff, including working with foundations, individual donors, and corporations. They will be creating collateral materials to represent the School and the university, including writing appeal letters, funding proposals to individual donors, corporations, and foundations, and funder reports. They will also be making one-on-one solicitation calls with existing and prospective donors.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree required; Masters in Philanthropic Studies, nonprofit management or related field is preferred. 

Minimum Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant management experience with nonprofit or higher education organizations and demonstrated record of fundraising success. CFRE preferred.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:    Work requires experience in nonprofit administration, fundraising, grant proposal preparation, alumni affairs, public relations, sales and promotions, marketing, or a related field in order to acquire skills necessary to administer, coordinate and/or participate in a variety of fundraising activities. Travel is required and a valid driver's license is necessary.
