As a key member of the Fairbanks Development team, the Annual Giving Officer will be committed to advancing the mission of Fairbanks and Hope Academy by increasing contributed resources and creating a donor-centered philanthropic culture throughout the organization. The Annual Giving Officer is a key member of the Development and Alumni Relations team, reports to the Director of Development and Alumni Relations, and works closely with the marketing department. The Annual Giving Officer will share the Fairbanks and Hope Academy mission, history and objectives to all prospective donors and will employ strategic identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities to increase the Fairbanks donor base. Specifically, the position will increase the donor base, renew and upgrade donor gifts and reengage lapsed donors as well as identify and engage new, prospective donors with a focus on annual gifts under $1,000. The Annual Giving Officer supervises the Development Coordinator.

Organization Overview:

Fairbanks, a nonprofit alcohol and drug treatment center, and Hope Academy, a tuition-free recovery high school, on the northeast side of Indianapolis, are looking for a strong candidate for the position of Annual Giving Officer.  This full time position reports to the Director of Development & Alumni Relations.

Driven by their mantra, "Experts in Addictions, Focused on Recovery" – Fairbanks offers a full continuum of care that provides the support and resources needed to achieve lifelong recovery. We provide individualized care and create a customized recovery plan that works for each person and their support system.  Last year, Fairbanks served nearly 20,000 people with inpatient treatment, partial hospitalization, outpatient therapy, family education, recovery management and community outreach.

Fairbanks is accredited by The Joint Commission under both the Behavioral Health and Hospital Accreditation Programs and is licensed by the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) Division of Mental Health and Addiction as a Private Mental Health Institution and certified by them as an Addictions Services Provider.

Hope Academy is a fully accredited, Indiana public charter high school for students in recovery from drugs and alcohol addiction.  As the only recovery high school in Indiana and just one of 23 nationwide Hope Academy provides a supportive community for students to maintain their sobriety and receive a Core 40 diploma. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Annual Giving
Develop and implement the annual giving program for Fairbanks and Hope Academy as evidenced by successful completion of various fundraising activities and the reporting of the outcomes of these activities. Focus will be individual and corporate donors under $1,000.
 
Event Planning
Assist in development and execution of fundraising events, lead/drive revenue generation of corporate sponsorship and ticket sales. Manage volunteer committees.
 
Online Giving Strategies
Identify and implement new ways to raise money through online giving techniques.
 
United Way
Serves as liaison for the United Way annual pacesetter campaign at Fairbanks, as evidenced by timely completion of campaign and successful leadership of employee committee.
 
Direct Mail
Assist in development and dissemination of direct mail appeals including drafting, proofing and analyzing results. Expand solicitation strategies to increase alumni and non-alumni fundraising activity through creative testing, segmentation and collaboration with various departments to advance all fundraising goals.
 
Donor Database
Possess ability to use constituent database and oversees all functions of donor database management.
 
Stewardship
Manage the comprehensive stewardship plan to build donor trust through consistent and meaningful contact. Coordinate and improve the current donor recognition system as outlined in the stewardship plan.
 
Data Analysis
Review, collect, and analyze donor data resulting in the identification of new gifts. Identify donors to become possible volunteers or board members.
 
Philanthropic Grants
Work closely with program staff and Development Coordinator to ensure budget, program, and marketing compliance with requirements of active grants.
 
Committee Participation
Participate in internal and external organizational committees and special teams as appropriate.
 
Confidential Information/Fundraising Ethics
Handle confidential information related to donors and adhere to fundraising ethics as defined by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). 

EDUCATION:
Bachelor Degree Required
Communications, fundraising, marketing or journalism

EXPERIENCE:
At least five (5) years of experience; Non-Profit Required
