FUNCTION:    

Prepares, maintains and updates accounting records, financial statements, balance sheet and other financial reports to ensure accuracy.  Prepares and analyzes budgets.  Assist the Controller in the preparation for audits, the annual budget, producing financial statements and financial reports by providing related documentation and preparing various summaries and reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

.Assist Controller in oversight of the month end close process.

  • Assist Controller in pulling data and completing work-papers for the year end external audit.
  • Perform general account analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, inventory, fixed assets, employer benefit, accruals, prepaid and other accounts as assigned. 
  • Prepare standard and adjusting general ledger entries in accordance with GAAP. 
  • Manage the processing of cash receipts, recording of revenue and receivables working closely with the development team to ensure that revenues and receivables in the accounting software system (MIP) are reconciled with the Razor's Edge data at month end and year end.
  • Maintain reconciliation and analysis of restricted net assets on a monthly basis.
  • Assist grant manager with preparation of grant reports and budgets.
  • Oversee monthly inventory count and reconciliation process.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Review and approve patient refunds for payment.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the accounting process and procedure manual.
  • Assist with internal audit of health center compliance with internal controls. 
  • Take on a leadership role in training to health center staff on accounting processes, purchasing, accounts payable, inventory management, cash receipts and petty cash.
  • Assist in the preparation, review and distribution of financial reports to department and health center managers.
  • Provide support and guidance to Accounting Assistants as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Specific experience with not-for-profit accounting desired.  Working knowledge of MIP beneficial. Excel proficiency required.
