The Director of Development is responsible for advancing the mission of the organization by working in collaboration with the Executive Director to develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with donors, board members, volunteers and others. Other responsibilities include donor cultivation and stewardship, program marketing and communications, special event planning and execution, and execution of the annual fundraising plan.

A key component of this position is the ability of the Director of Development to raise funds for the sustainability of his/her own position as well as operational funds for the organization. The ideal candidate will be passionate about and committed to working in a not-for-profit environment and place a high value on relationships with people. This position will engage businesses, churches, and civic groups among others.  This position is responsible for establishing and implementing best practice policies for gift giving, solicitation and record keeping including the administration of the donor database. Full time position.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with excellent communication skills, demonstrated grant writing skills, and possess a sound knowledge of fundraising principles, ethics and practices.   A Bachelor's degree is required in business or a related field and at least three to five years of not-for-profit fundraising experience.  A Master's degree is preferred.  Education/experience equivalents will be considered.
