Manages and/or supports Indiana Youth Institute research and data products including the KIDS COUNT in Indiana Data Book, Issue Briefs, external data requests, county-level data products and internal and external evaluation protocols.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manages development and production of annual KIDS COUNT in Indiana Data Book and Snapshot.
 o Plans and implements budget, timeline and strategy for the book.
 o Develops content that reflects the field of child wellbeing in Indiana.
 o Manages review and design process.
 o Educates IYI staff on findings.
 o Coordinates dissemination and promotion of the book with Marketing, Media, and Outreach departments.
• Manages development and production of IYI Issue Briefs.
 o Plans and implements budget, timeline and strategy for 4 annual issue briefs.
 o Develops content that is pertinent and easily implementable by people who directly serve youth.
 o Manages the design and review process.
 o Coordinates dissemination and promotion of the briefs with Marketing, Media, and Outreach departments.
 o Makes and distributes copies of briefs when needed.
• Represents IYI and KIDS COUNT data to external stakeholders.
 o Serves on committees as a voice for state and county level data for Indiana's children and youth.
 o Manages the KIDS COUNT Indiana Advisory Council.
• Supports county-level data work.
 o Presents State of the Child Data Cafés.
 o Checks formulas and fact checks as needed for county snapshots and data center.
• Supports Data Requests.
 o Assists with answering internal and external data requests.
• Keeps abreast of research in the field of child and youth development.
 o Follows child topics in research, media and policy.
 o Looks for new research, reports and studies about child topics and the field of youth development.
 o Ensures IYI's media staff is aware of major findings.
 o Helps to ensure that IYI's professional development programs are research-informed.
 o Provides facts from the data book to IYI marketing department periodically.
• Assists with IYI's internal and external evaluation protocols.
 o Collects and analyzes evaluation data.
 o Reviews and edits evaluation reports.
• Works on custom data projects when needed.
• Drafts reports to funders on data programs.
• Conducts fundraising for the Institute.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the VP Impact and Data Solutions or President & CEO.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's Degree required, including coursework in research and statistics. Master's preferred.
• Experience or knowledge in fields such as youth development, education, child welfare, family services, health, and/or juvenile justice.
• Experience using Global Information Systems (GIS) and data visualization software preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate research to practice in writing.
• Knowledge of data research methods and experience extracting data from a large, diverse set of state, national, and independent databases.
• Must possess a high capacity for detail and precision with numbers.
• Microsoft Office (including advanced Excel skills) and Internet research knowledge necessary.

INDEPENDENT ACTION AND JUDGEMENT:
• Guidance and direction is provided by the Institute's mission and policies, the Vice President Impact and Data Solutions and the President & CEO.
• Position requires self-discipline and a high level of independent judgment and decision making.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
• Position interacts with IYI staff, data providers and IYI clients.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• The majority of work for this position is performed in a standard office environment. 
• Generally, there is minimal exposure to hazard or a high degree of discomfort. 
• Some physical activity required; some lifting and moving of boxes; some standing for extended periods at annual conference.
• Some statewide travel is required.
