Equipping IPS High School students to graduate with a plan for the future by establishing long-term relationships between Elevate Indianapolis Teacher/Mentors and students.  Elevate is ready to grow to the next level and is looking for a President & CEO that will be well compensated to lead a team to help IPS High School students prepare for college through four primary program areas: 1) In-school programs which teach accredited curriculum emphasizing character qualities and life skills, 2) After-school mentoring and 24/7 availability for kids, 3) Summer programs, and 4) Post-secondary preparation for college, vocational training/certification or service career, primarily in the military.

The Board seeks an experienced, dynamic, community oriented individual to lead Elevate Indianapolis to the next level. Strong Fundraising, Leadership, Management, Board Development and Strategic Planning skills are required. Fundraising is estimated to be 60% of the responsibilities. A Bachelor's degree is required and a Master's degree in Nonprofit Management is preferred.  Minimum five years of nonprofit development and management experience with a proven track record in management, fundraising and working with high school age students.

Organization Overview:
In 2015 Elevate Indianapolis was formed to equip urban high school students prepare for college and a career.  While an independent 501(c)(3) similar Elevates operate in eight other cities.  Each Elevate embraces the same mission but operates uniquely to serve the local student's unique needs.  Currently Elevate Indianapolis offers programs in IPS Arsenal Tech High School and seeks to expand rapidly to additional IPS High Schools.  Dr. Lewis Ferebee, Superintendent of IPS has asked that Elevate Indianapolis serve all IPS High School students.  Currently the staff consists of a team of four serving 90 students.  Each school day 90 students participate in the elective class.  In 2017 100% of the senior students graduated.  Elevate Indianapolis has a strong board, funding and partnerships which include: Sagamore Institute, Ivy Tech, Marian University, Ivy Tech, Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis, City Life, College Mentors for Kids, Edge, Indy Metro Church, Goodwill, Opportunity Indy Shepherd Community Center, YMCA and Young Life

The President & CEO has overall strategic and operational responsibility for Elevate Indianapolis' staff, programs and execution of its mission. The position provides oversight of operations, business plans and retention/development of key donors and new fundraising sources. The President & CEO represents the organization in the community and ensures effective working relationships among Elevate's various collaborators throughout the Central Indiana community.


Leadership & Management
• Ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence and rigorous program evaluation
• Oversight and management of finance and administration, fundraising, communications and systems
• Develop and achieve strategic objectives and budgets
• Recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve strategic goals
• Manage, coach and develop high-performing teams
• Evaluate program components to measure success that can be effectively communicated to Board of Directors, funders and other constituencies
• Manage and partner with staff in areas of operations, programs and fund development

Board Development
• Develop, maintain and effectively communicate with the Board of Directors
• Seek and build board involvement with strategic direction for operations and fundraising
• Actively engage and energize board members, event committees, alumni, partnering organizations and funders

Fundraising & Communications
• Expand local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support and grow existing program operations and school expansion
• Use external presence and relationships to develop new opportunities
• Lead and organize Site Visits in collaboration with Development Manager and Teacher/Mentor team on campus for community leaders
• Manage and partner with grant writer to target and process grant opportunities
• Deepen and refine all aspects of communications ' web and social media presence to external relations with the goal of creating stronger brand

Strategic Planning and Pipeline Development
• Develop school expansion and complete strategic business planning process for program expansion into new schools as primary liaison and in collaboration with Indianapolis Public Schools
• Build partnerships in new school pipelines, establishing relationships with funders and political, community and aligned collaborator leaders
• Represent and serve as advocate for Elevate at local level communicating program successes to serve as model of future opportunities
• Spearhead strategic planning and create reporting, processes and virtual systems to take Elevate to next level

Skills & Experience
• Bachelor's degree required
• Minimum five years of nonprofit development and management or relevant experience
• Demonstrated success in prior leadership and management positions
• Strong track record and proven success in fundraising and cultivating relationships with key individuals and donors
• Strong management skills, prior success leading teams and demonstrated ability to coach and mentor
• Previous success working with Board of Directors and ability to cultivate existing board member relationships
• Superior conflict resolution skills
• High degree of organizational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of staff, clients and Elevate information
• Demonstrated ability to drive change and accomplish goals through team approach
• Ability to manage variety of short and long-term projects concurrently
• Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
• Passion, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven and self-directed
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
