Brooke's Place is a nonprofit organization working to create a community where children, teens, young adults and their families living with grief feel supported and understood. Brooke's Place provides support groups, therapy services and community education to empower children, teens, young adults and their families to thrive in the midst of grief. Since 1999, Brooke's Place has provided grief peer support groups to over 9,000 young people and their families with hurting hearts.

 Masters Degree in a behavioral health or human service field (e.g., counseling, social work, psychology, education).

 Licensed or license-eligible by the Health Professions Bureau for State licensure is preferred.

 Bereavement support experience, an understanding of childhood & adolescent development, and knowledge of play therapy are preferred.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will be responsible for coordinating on-going program night support groups and volunteers for youth and families at Brooke's Place. The Support Group Coordinator will work with the Support Group Director and others on staff to ensure the highest quality level of care is provided to our support group families and through our volunteers.

Program Duties:
o Coordinate planning, management and direct oversight for the on-going grief support group families: one evening per week.

o Coordinate planning, management and direct oversight for the on-going grief support group volunteers: one evening per week.

o Assist in planning, managing & implementing the intake, enrollment and closing process for support group families. o Provide phone support for prospective and current families, community consultations and referrals.

o Ensure all program policies are adhered to by families and volunteers.

o Procure program supplies and track program expenses.

o Track program statistics and outcomes related to families and volunteers.

o Maintain schedules for the support group program.

o Conduct pre-interviews and post-interviews with prospective program volunteers.

o Coordinate volunteers for Speaker's Bureau events and exhibits at various community events.

o Participate in the recruitment plan for program volunteers.

o Maintain community partnerships in relation to the support group program. o Assist in coordinating and attends special events for families and appreciation events for volunteers.

Training and Facilitation Duties:

o Complete the Brooke's Place Facilitator Training Program. o Provide facilitation within Brooke's Place programs.

o Assist in teaching and coordinating facilitator trainings.

General Duties:

o Uphold and implement the agency's vision, mission, principles and values.

o Actively participate in staff, program meetings, professional development, and special events as scheduled.

o Provide presentations to interested organizations about the bereavement services offered by Brooke's Place.

o Participate in the budget process, representing needs and goals of program coordination areas.

o Demonstrate appropriate professional conduct and boundaries with all Brooke's Place constituents, including staff, families, volunteers, donors and interns. o Other duties as assigned.


 Excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills to effectively communicate

 Ability to enhance and expand programming and events

 Therapeutic skills specific to the childhood bereavement population

 Computer experience (Microsoft Office, database)

 Organizational and time management skills to manage multiple priorities in a complex work environment

 Problem solving skills and the ability to mediate conflict

 Evenings: Mondays / Tuesdays / Thursdays (2 of these evenings per week) 2:00pm – end of support group night (9:30/10:00pm)

 Daytime: Three additional day/evening time frames (Mondays / Tuesdays / Thursdays (1 of these), AND Wednesdays and Fridays). These days can be adjusted depending on the schedule of Support Group Intakes, interviews with prospective volunteers and other various work commitments.  This position has the potential of becoming a job share.
