The Bookkeeper will assist the Office Coordinator and Chief Financial Officer with various accounting responsibilities.  

For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life.  As the nation's largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes strong, enduring and professionally supported mentoring relationships between adult volunteers (Bigs) and children (Littles), ages 8 through 18, in communities across the country-including Marion, Hamilton, and Johnson counties in central Indiana.  Big Brothers Big Sisters partners with parent/guardians, volunteers, schools, donors and others in the community to be accountable for helping youth in our program achieve 1) educational success, 2) avoidance of risky behaviors, and 3) higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships. 

Position Duties
• Record all income and make deposits at least three a week.  Keep track of outstanding payments due from grants and other sources and invoice as needed.
• Process Accounts Payable weekly and process checks. 
• Record Paid Time Off and ensure timesheets are submitted and approved with proper documentation for OT.
• Enter payroll onto the website at least three days prior to payday.
• Record and process EFT payments.
• Record all credit card expenses in MIP and verify documentation is present.
• Back up the MIP accounting system daily.
• Prepare and email budget reports to supervisors monthly.
• Conduct monthly reports on copier and postage usage
• Revise chart of accounts and system reports as needed.
• Keep and maintain all financial permanent records for government reporting and BBBSCI permanent records.  Prepare and distribute W4's, W2's, 1099's, etc. as required by law.
• Maintain cash flow reports for the agency in conjunction with updated information received as a result of processing checks for payment and processing payroll.
• Assist in preparation of audit materials as needed.
• Assist in budget preparation.  Key budgets into MIP accounting system.

Position Qualifications
• High School Diploma; prefer Associates or Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting.
• Knowledge of all accounting & legal requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Will be required to participate in continuing educations programs as requested
• Experience in nonprofit accounting, accounts payable/receivables and payroll preferred.
