The Julian Center, a domestic violence shelter and Family Justice Center, is seeking a full-time Director of Development.  The Director of Development will represent the core values and mission of The Julian Center by serving as a key member of the resource development and management teams.  The Director of Development oversees all aspects of the fundraising efforts including: corporate, foundation, and individual donor engagement; annual campaign; grant strategy; special campaigns.  Activities focus on major gifts and planned giving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Cultivate current and prospective relationships with major individual donors
• Establish and execute yearly fundraising campaigns in coordination with overall strategic and communications plans
• Design and execute a moves management system that will facilitate the identification, cultivation, stewardship and advancement of prospects and donors and move them into greater involvement with TJC
• Maintain and manage donor recognition including gift clubs and societies
• Develop a planned giving program and support The Julian Society for those who have registered a planned gift 
• Develop a means of tracking future gifts (recorded planned gifts)
• Schedule and conduct in-person tours and meetings with potential and current funders/sponsors to solicit financial and in-kind contributions for events and programs

Corporate Relationships
• Cultivate and maintain productive relationships with major corporate donors
• Prepare and manage master sponsor solicitation materials and proposals, contracts, and promotional agreements, tailoring programs to targeted funders
• Monitor sponsor graphic standards for logo usage, promotional restrictions and sponsor recognition program to ensure fees paid are proportionate to benefits delivered
• Create and oversee the execution of event and sponsor timetables well in advance of scheduled events
• Help Director of Community Engagement cultivate volunteer committees to assist staff in execution of events
• Service sponsors and fulfill contracts
• Solicit and negotiate in-kind gifts of product and services

Management and Planning
• Provide leadership and management to the development team
• In conjunction with the management team, as well as Development and Finance Committees of the Board, work to develop multiple-year fundraising strategies to meet agency requirements, including annual productivity benchmarks
• Provide top-level thinking, analysis, and recommendations to the appropriate staff and Board of Directors regarding fund/resource development and related issues
• Meet with appropriate staff as needed to discuss ways to maximize all partnerships, and review status and leveraging possibilities of current relationships
• Ensure maintenance of effective office systems and protocols to support all fundraising and marketing operations
• Support staff and board leadership as spokespersons and fundraisers for the agency
• Provide guidance and support for contracted and in-house staff responsible for broadcast, print, online and social media communications related to fundraising 
• Work with contracted staff to develop collateral, including a case for support for planned giving
• Coordinate or supervise coordination with contractors involved in graphic design, printing and other aspects of fundraising efforts

External Relations
• Steward current foundations and cultivate new foundation gifts
• Serve as a spokesperson for the agency in the absence of the President/CEO
• Coordinate response to fundraising inquiries and opportunities
• Host corporate events for management of local firms to learn more about domestic violence issues

• A bachelor's degree
• CFRE preferred
• At least five years of increasingly responsible experience in multi-channel fundraising efforts
• Demonstrated success in corporate and individual gift cultivation and solicitation, event management and working with volunteers
• Planned Giving experience preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communications
• Management and leadership skills
• Strong organization and time-management skills
• Detail oriented
• Collaboration and team orientation and communication required
