Job Description:
The Director of Development is a full-time, 12-month, administrative position reporting to the Head of School. The Director of Development is responsive to all constituencies of Park Tudor in an effort to increase financial support for the School. The Director of Development maintains strong relationships with the School's community and the wider community to create the strategy and marketing plan for all fundraising campaigns.

Major Functions & Responsibilities:
Essential functions include the following.
• Be visible in and around the school and the community, appropriately representing Park Tudor School.
• Steward donors by cultivating relationships and providing regular reporting back on major gifts.
• Educate potential donors on planned giving, matching gifts, gifts of securities, and all other types of giving.
• Manage and support the Development Committee in its monthly meetings and activities.
• Solicit gifts of all sizes to support the School.
• Research and identify existing and new donors.
• Manage, develop, and evaluate members of the development team. Assign responsibilities to obtain maximum efficiency and effectiveness from the department.
• Lead the entire Development staff as well as many volunteers in planning and executing major school events including, but not limited to, Dinner Theatre dinner and auction, Alumni Weekend, other Alumni events, and Grandparents Day.
• Create and distribute the Annual Report.
• Coordinate with the Business Office and the applicable Development staff in processing and acknowledging all gifts. Oversee the maintenance of donor records.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of School.

Experience and Skills:
• Ability to lead, motivate, collaborate with and manage individuals and groups as follows:
o Proven track record of creatively building and leading successful teams, and improving the effectiveness of an organization
o Ability to delegate authority to motivate and empower others while holding them accountable for the accomplishment of objectives
o Ability to work effectively with volunteers and boards, senior administrators and faculty on a collegial basis
o Ability to work independently and as a member of a high-performance team in a fast-paced environment.
o Ability to cultivate new sources of major gifts and institutional grants, and to maintain and develop current relationships, including stewarding major donors.

• Strong technical ability as follows:
o Significant professional experience that demonstrates success and increased responsibilities in leadership and management.
o Proven track record creating and leading a comprehensive development program, including annual giving, major gift and capital giving programs ($25 million plus), volunteer support, and solicitation.
o Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiently.
o Thorough understanding of the current trends in development, alumni and community relations and the issues facing independent schools.
o Strong knowledge of fundraising-related activities including donor records and gift receipts.
o Excellent written, verbal and public speaking skills.

• Other qualifications:
o Master's degree or equivalent required
o 5+ years of experience as Director of Development preferred
o Background in independent schools preferred
o Knowledge of Senior Systems Alumni Development preferred
o Excellent computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
