Indiana Ballet Conservatory (IBC), a premier pre-professional ballet school, is seeking an Executive Director (ED) to lead all operational and business aspects of the organization while adhering to its mission and purpose.

Organization Overview
Indiana Ballet Conservatory (IBC) is a pre-professional ballet school committed to providing the best classical ballet training to its students and launching the next generation of dancers unto the world stage. We have one of the largest gentlemen's programs in the Midwest and enroll more than 140 students; training students from around the country in our ballet programs. We stage two major performances a year that expose more than 1000 Indianapolis residents to ballet. In addition, IBC students continually place in top positions in national and international competitions and many pursue professional careers in dance around the world.

The Executive Director (ED) shall:
• Develop and achieve annual balanced budgets for IBC that implement IBC's artistic vision and strategic plan. The ED, supported by the Artistic Director (the "AD"), will develop strategies to achieve budgets for all aspects of IBC (including the School, local productions, community outreach, and administrative staff).
• Lead or develop IBC's annual capital and other fundraising efforts, including grants and scholarships, in order to sustainably increase the financial resources available to IBC.
• Lead and inspire all fundraising activities, including the identification, cultivation and solicitation of top level prospects, and the creation and execution of an "Annual Development Plan" in order to showcase and promote IBC.  The ED will attend events, studio/dress rehearsals and performances, and use such as cultivation opportunities for Board and fundraising development. 
• Support the artistic vision and direction of IBC. The ED will work closely with the AD and other staff to ensure all IBC planned activities will achieve the artistic vision at the earliest possible date, consistent with the financial resources of the organization.  This requires the ED to be a partner and advisor to the AD and requires strong management skills in communication, leadership, and bridge and consensus building.
• Select, hire, develop, motivate, inspire, and review professional administrative personnel (as required) including the department directors (including volunteer personnel) for Finance, Development, Marketing and Public Relations, Human Resources, Information Systems, Facilities, and general Academy Operations.
• Supervise administrative department heads.  In addition, all other staff who report to the Artistic Director will work with the ED, AD and Business Manager (or equivalent) for budgeting and accounting purposes.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with the community and with regional, state and federal grant organization officials and arts organizations to strengthen and build IBC's positive image and financial support for its arts mission.
• Work effectively with the Board of Directors.
• Carry out such other duties (not otherwise described above) as are assigned from time to time by the Board.

• The ED will report orally or in writing to the Board at least quarterly with respect to the ED's management responsibilities.
• The ED will regularly attend Board meetings and meet with the Board leadership committee as needed, but no less than monthly.

• Strong affinity for the performing arts community, including:
   o Appreciation for, and a significant knowledge of, non-profit performing arts.
   o A significant understanding of Classical Ballet.
   o Sensitivity to the importance of artistic excellence as a primary goal of IBC.
• Strong team-building skills supported by a positive attitude and mature personality conducive to deal effectively with various individuals and diverse groups to resolve differences and develop constructive consensus.
• Superior oral and written communication skills.
• Dynamic, energetic, and socially adept with demonstrated strong leadership skills.
• Demonstrated creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit.
• Integrity and a demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards.
• Bachelor's degree; emphasis in Classical Ballet or performing arts.
