The mission of Eastern Star Church (ESC) is evangelism and discipleship. We are committed to the great commission instituted by Jesus Christ that is to nurture and save souls (Matthew 28:18-20). Everything we do through our ministries and Care Center is to live out the vision that the Lord has given to our church family.

Under the direction of the Director of Ministries, the Sr. Coordinator of Children and Teens serves to lead a church-wide ministry that develops disciples for Christ by creating experiences that help to uncover their spiritual gifts and inspire them to become actively engaged in the work and mission of this Church and community.

• Create and implement a youth evangelism strategy for the Church. Lead efforts to enhance children and teen programs and events that are vibrant, appealing, and interactive. Recruit and train a team of qualified ministry volunteers to manage special events and deliver the curriculum.
• Deliver five-star service by planning, promoting, coordinating, and evaluating events, curriculum, and activities for youth while engaging and communicating regularly with parents. Network with other community organizations to procure partnerships that further the development of young disciples while connecting them with real opportunities that perpetuate growth.

• Serve as a spiritual mentor and shepherd by teaching the gospel on an ongoing basis, both individually and corporately. Advocate for children and teens by educating the congregation about the hopes, concerns, and needs of our youth. Offer unique solutions that are biblically based and aligned with the overall mission of the Church. 

• Collaborate with others in a professional manner to align ministry and volunteer efforts with existing programs, to produce promotional materials and messaging, and to enforce policies and procedures surrounding the safety of children.

To qualify for this role, one must be an active member of Eastern Star Church within three months of starting, with five to seven years of direct experience in managing youth programs, preferably in a Christian environment. A bachelor's degree in a related field of study is also preferred.

The ideal candidate is someone whose enthusiasm and passion for youth is contagious; someone who is both generous with praise and always on the lookout for the positive in the situation; one who celebrates every achievement and finds ways to make everything more exciting and more vital.

This person must have enduring core values and a genuine display of care, consideration, and acceptance. This person should be highly empathetic with an instinctive ability to understand and to listen to the unvoiced concerns while helping others to express their thoughts and feelings.

Additionally, candidates must have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Advanced ability to organize, plan, coordinate events and manage time while orienting on details. An innate ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced environment while being flexible and approachable.

• Aptitude to perform day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining files and processing paperwork. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and substantial experience with systems such as Microsoft Suite, i.e., Outlook, Word, and Excel.

• Knowledge and application of the English language with an ability to communicate articulately and efficiently in both verbal and written form.
• Proven ability to work swiftly to troubleshoot conflicts and other problems that may arise while understanding when to escalate issues and ensure that appropriate personnel is informed.
