Shelby Arts Alliance is seeking a dynamic individual to make an impact as its first part-time executive director. This candidate must challenge an engaged board with the necessary leadership skills to grow the arts in our vibrant community. The position is fully funded at $27,500 annually for three years by the Blue River Community Foundation.

General
1. The Shelby Arts Alliance (officially known as the Shelby Arts Council) is an Indiana not-for-profit corporation founded in 1971. The mission of the Shelby Arts Alliance is to promote, support, and showcase all of the arts in the Shelby County area.
 
2. Responsibility for the control of the business and affairs of the Arts Alliance is vested in the Board of Directors.
 
3. Responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Arts Alliance is vested in the Executive Director who reports directly to the Board of Directors.
 
4. The Executive Director performs a part-time (20 hours per week) role. He/she will be paid $27,500 per year.
 
Qualifications
1. Ability to work independently.
2. Ability to work with all levels of stakeholders to carry out the mission of the Shelby Arts Alliance.
3. Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous projects and tasks.
4. Experience and ability in creating and managing budgets.
5. Experience in fund-raising, grant-writing, membership/donor development and corporate giving.
6. Ability to work collaboratively with various arts and business communities to create partnerships that promote the mission of the Shelby Arts Alliance.
7. Strong written and oral communication skills.
8. The ability to work with all arts disciplines.
9. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to work with social media.

Job Duties
1. Oversee the growth and management of the Shelby Arts Alliance.
2.  Act as liaison between the Shelby Arts Alliance, community arts organizations, artists, businesses, schools, the community and local government agencies.
3. Develop, facilitate and maintain funding streams for the Shelby Arts Alliance.
4. Assist in continuing to build the foundation of the Shelby Arts Alliance including committee development and the identification of organizational goals and activities in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
5. Advise all Shelby Arts Alliance committees whose tasks are to address the goals of the organization.
6.   Educate the community on the benefits of arts on the quality of life in the Shelby County area.
7. Advocate and develop arts in education and life-long learning programs.
8.  Identify and facilitate arts events, workshops and educational experiences, including both local and visiting artists, for the benefit of Shelby County residents.
9. Oversee the development of support staff and volunteer programs.
10. Provide technical assistance in arts development and capacity building to arts agencies in the Shelby County area.
11. Manage all fiscal policies and financial records as set by the Board of Directors.
12.Other activities and duties as defined by the Board of Directors.
