The Real Estate Investment Underwriter works as part of the Real Estate Development team analyzing applications to determine the financial feasibility of proposed projects seeking state and federal dollars to create or rehabilitate affordable housing developments across the state.  This includes funding for programs such as Section 42 low income tax credits, HOME Investment Partnership, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the Affordable Housing Development Fund.

Key Duties of the Real Estate Investment Underwriter Include:

• Analyze financial and operating data to ensure projects are feasible and sustainable.
• Assess financial strength, experience, performance and capacity of borrowers, principals and sponsors.
• Propose financing structures and terms that are in best inters of the applicant and IHCDA.
• Research and compile information related to trends in market demand, rental rates, operating expenses and other data that will improve the underwriting knowledge base.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, public administration, planning or real estate development.  1-3 years relevant job experience in the commercial lending, credit analysis, affordable housing development or real estate finance/development fields. 

Preferred Experience
Certifications in Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, HOME and CDBG programs preferred. 

Travel:  Minimal in state travel may be required.  A valid Indiana Driver's License must be maintained during employment.
