This outward facing professional position supports United Ways and other nonprofit organizations in strengthening their skills and capacity with high-quality learning experiences through the Indiana Nonprofit Resource Network program.
 
Reports to:  IUW Vice President for Talent & Performance

This is a mobile-office position. The Field Director will access multiple "touch down" office spaces primarily across Southern Indiana. Travel will include to IUW's Indianapolis office and other select locations. A more formal administrative touch down space will be determined depending on the candidate selected. Ideal candidates could be from the middle-south to southwest Indiana, such as Columbus, Seymour, Bloomington, Terre Haute, Greenwood and southern Indianapolis. 
 
Position Summary:
Be a key team player supporting the IUW Vision 2027 strategic plan and membership services as a priority. Provide capacity building services for United Ways and other nonprofit organizations. Services include leading and providing public workshops, customized private workshops, and consulting and coaching services for nonprofit staff and board members. 

Primary Responsibility:
To develop and implement, in coordination with Indiana United Ways, other INRN directors and the training team, the new United Way member services in support of the IUW strategic plan. May supervise staff.

Responsibilities include:
Assure that resources are secured and work flow is managed effectively.
• Core services: Provide direct training and coaching services to Indiana United Ways, develop and host nonprofit management workshops and other services in partnership with local United Ways/Funds and other nonprofit partners. Onboard and coach newer executive directors primarily in southern Indiana. Develop and present workshops addressing board governance, fund development including annual campaigns, volunteer management, strategic planning, and other areas. Recruit and manage outside supplemental presenters. Provide customized services such as board retreats and strategic planning, coaching and consulting services. 
• Relationships: Establish and maintain internal and external relationships and collaborations with United Ways, community foundations, and other nonprofit alliances to provide needed services. 
• Market INRN services: Market and secure consulting contracts in partnership with local sponsors as needed. 
• Operations: Manage/oversee workshop scheduling, registrations and related operations to include budget and accountability reports. Supervise staff and or interns.  
• Resource Development: Secure contractual income through fees, sponsorships, and regional/local grants.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required, with preference in nonprofit management, education or related field.  Master's in Public Administration preferred. 
• Specific experience in nonprofit fundraising, board governance, and marketing/communications, either teaching and/or implementing, required. 
• Nonprofit Management experience, especially with United Ways, including staff and volunteer supervision, preferred. Volunteer experience, including board service preferred.
• 3-5 year's experience and high skill with training, facilitation, and team building. Goal-setting facilitation experience required. Strategic planning facilitation experience preferred. Able to design and lead engaging training techniques, required. Able to train various group sizes and skill levels, especially smaller or grassroots organizations. 
• Ability to work independently and build relationships at the local, county, and regional levels.   • Highly motivated, a self-starter and innovative thinker desired, with demonstrated ability to work within a team-based environment, essential. 
• High organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects with set deadlines/guidelines.
• Meeting/event planning and training coordination skills essential. 
• Ability to transcribe facilitation and meeting notes into final work products for boards and other leader's use. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skill. Proficient in Microsoft Office computer applications, required.
• Travel and ability to use social media communication are required. Must have own reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. 
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and manage event preparations, required.
