Butler University is in the early stages of its largest comprehensive campaign to date. Central to this effort will be increasing constituent engagement and giving. The Associate Director of Alumni and Engagement Programs is responsible for leading the strategic development and execution of relationship building plans on behalf of Butler University specifically associated with our regional alumni communities and other alumni groups as assigned. The Associate Director is also responsible for assisting with key University engagement activities such as Family Weekend and Homecoming.

The successful candidate is someone who thrives in a team-oriented, results-driven, and service-focused environment. This candidate welcomes a challenge, is self-motived and will be energized by meeting and engaging a wide variety of people and personalities with the Butler University family. This position requires attention to detail, diplomacy skills, and the ability to handle multiple deadlines at one time.

The Associate Director, Alumni and Engagement Programs reports to the Executive Director, Alumni and Engagement Programs.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee the management of alumni communities and other groups as assigned and assist their efforts to engage each community's alumni population in meaningful ways. Collaborate with each community's steering committee to form and execute annual action plans which include professional development, community service and social activities (35%)
• Assist in discovery and qualification of new alumni donors within assigned alumni communities; promote and increase philanthropic activity within assigned alumni communities; become "in-house expert" for assigned geographic regions (35%)
• Facilitate communication and event management as required for each chapter including but not limited to organizing event invite lists, emails, RSVP forms, venues, catering contracts and additional logistics (20%)
• Assist in planning and execution of key University engagement activities including but not limited to Homecoming and Family Weekend (5%)
• Regularly assess chapter progress; report key findings to Advancement division staff and members of the Butler University Alumni Association board of directors. Research and implement industry best practices to achieve success (5%)
• Domestic travel, evening and weekend work as well as a flexible schedule are required

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree
• 2-4 years of experience required including successful experience managing, assisting and motivating volunteers
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to speak in front of groups
• Professional, courteous, and friendly disposition; must feel comfortable representing the University to a wide variety of audiences
• Ability to connect and build relationships with wide variety of people
• Strong project management skills and a demonstrated ability to multi-task and set priorities within tight timeframes and within budget
• Event management experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with or ability to learn database software

Preferred Qualifications:
• An understanding of higher education and/or non-profit businesses preferred
