Butler University is seeking a customer-service and detail-orientated candidate to join the Donor Relations team as we conduct our largest comprehensive campaign to date. The Associate Director of Donor Relations & Stewardship will work in conjunction with the Director of Donor Relations to manage appropriate stewardship programs to aid in the institution's efforts to educate, cultivate and recognize donors. The position ensures that gifts to the University are properly documented, formally acknowledged, and tracked and used in accordance with donors' documented intention.
Candidates should have significant aptitude and experience with computers and relational databases; understanding of philanthropy as it relates to higher education; proficiency and mastery of the English language and a clear, concise writing style.  Candidates should also have the ability to work collaboratively with campus partners but use discretion in working with confidential and sensitive data.
•  Oversee gift acceptance process by drafting and reviewing gift agreements and shepherding documents through the approval process before setting up and finally documenting new funds.
•  Ensure endowed funds are being used according to donor intent as outlined in established gift agreements by monitoring fund accounting and collaborating with Butler units to ensure the awarding of scholarships/other endowed funds.
•  Develop and implement major gift comprehensive stewardship plans by maintaining high-level stewardship guidelines for funds established by donors at the major gift level. Coordinate the endowed fund (endowed scholarship and other endowed funds) reporting processes and donor recognition events.
•  Acknowledge gifts on behalf of the President and coordinate opportunities for additional recognition from the President and other leaders for major gift donors.
•  Partner with Advancement Services and Business Office to serve as a liaison for the University's financial operations regarding the initiation of new funds, gift agreements, fund statements, or other relevant documentation related to the stewardship of gifts to Butler and ensure all endowed funds and named spaces are recorded and tracked in the donor database.
•  Develop and manage a tracking system for named spaces.
•  Manage and coordinate responses to inquiries regarding gift funds from donors, Major Gift Officers, University leadership, and other staff.
•  Supervise student worker 
•  Undergraduate degree required. Degree in English, Communication or related field preferred.
•  Experience in non-profit donor relations is highly desirable, with a background in higher education fund raising preferred.
•  Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
•  Ability to work according to program deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously required; experience with project management in higher education and/or non-profit organizations preferred.
•  Computer software skills, including Microsoft Office, and knowledge of integrated client database systems preferred.
•  Ability to use discretion in working with confidential and sensitive data required.
•  Professionalism in appearance, demeanor, and decision-making required.
•  Flexibility and a proactive approach to problem-solving preferred.
•  Familiarity with the Donor Bill of Rights as prescribed by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) preferred.
•  Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as necessary.
