Position Overview:

Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana (SNSI) is leading the effort to move every Indiana animal shelter to zero-kill status. Central to this effort will be increasing sales of the Pet Friendly license plate, and constituent engagement and giving. The Director of Philanthropy & Marketing is responsible for marketing strategies and plans, with the objective of increasing constituent engagement and philanthropic support. 

This position is responsible for developing a comprehensive marketing plan that includes Pet Friendly license plate campaigns, constituent engagement programs, annual giving, donor relations, major and planned giving, and corporation sponsorships. The Director of Philanthropy & Marketing will be responsible for creating marketing content and communication flows, managing web and digital efforts, and efficiently managing marketing spend from the SNSI budget. The Director of Philanthropy & Marketing reports to the Executive Director of Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana.


  • Lead the development of marketing and communication strategies and plans, in partnership with the Executive Director. Measure the effectiveness of marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Develop strategic communication flows, through various communication channels, that promote Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana to key audiences, including purchasers of the Pet Friendly license plate, donors, supporters, pet lovers, corporations and foundations, civic leaders, and other community partners.
  • Promote the Pet Friendly license plate to potential purchasers, working with corporate sponsors and community partners to increase awareness and sales.
  • Manage the organization's digital presence and communications, including the campaign website and digital marketing giving campaigns. Create content and track analytics.
  • Develop and execute social media strategy, tactics, and content in partnership with the Executive Director.
  • Identify grant opportunities and apply for funding, in partnership with the Executive Director.
  • Lead planned giving initiative.    
  • Lead fundraising events, in partnership with the Executive Director and fundraising committee.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, philanthropy or related field.
  • 3 – 5 years of philanthropy and marketing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated foundation in marketing competencies, including strategic marketing plan development, communications planning, print media, digital marketing, and social media.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in marketing analytics and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills required. 


  • 40-hour salaried work week with flexible hours, Monday – Friday, Saturdays required on occasion.

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Candidates with at least 3 years of successful fundraising or equivalent experience in marketing and philanthropy will receive highest consideration.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated pattern of flexibility, ability to manage multiple projects, and willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Ability to use computer technology (e.g., Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, relational databases, etc.). 
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
