Indiana Connected by 25, Inc. is seeking a dynamic, experienced professional to join our team as the Director of Youth Engagement Strategies. This is an Indianapolis-based, full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package that will provide the ideal candidate the opportunity to impact the lives of young adults across the state of Indiana.

Summary & Scope:

Indiana Connected by 25, Inc. provides financial, educational, and social support to assist young people as they are about to or have already transitioned out of the foster care system. 

As part of the Indiana Connected by 25 team and reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Youth Engagement Strategies advances the organization's mission by overseeing and managing Indiana Connected by 25's youth engagement strategies, programs, and related partnerships across the state. 

Position Responsibilities:

As the Director of Youth Engagement Strategies, you play a central role in elevating the voice of Indiana foster youth. The Director of Youth Engagement is expected to implement statewide youth engagement strategies to empower youth to improve the child welfare system. Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with COO and fellow directors to develop plans to meet strategic goals
  • Co-create strategies with Indiana Connected by 25 directors, DCS staff, and partner organizations to engage and empower foster youth
  • Represent Indiana Connected by 25 in meetings with senior-level partners, agencies, and elected officials
  • Develop ambitious strategic plans for the youth engagement with measurable outcome goals
  • Lead all youth engagement initiatives, including the six (6) Indiana Youth Advisory Boards (IYAB). This includes working with IYAB members to:
    • Identify, recruit, and enroll new regional IYAB representatives
    • Work collaboratively with Indiana Department of Child Services Case Managers
    • Schedule IYAB Regional Meetings and arrange logistics in support of IYAB members; set agenda topics for meetings; develop content to be shared at meetings and through other platforms; implement programmatic changes based on youth needs.
    • Develop systems for collecting feedback from participating youth through the use of questionnaires, annual youth surveys and/or youth focus groups in order to constantly improve program effectiveness
    • Provide support and oversight to youth board members both locally and when traveling to in-state and out-of-state events, functions, conferences, etc.
    • Create and identify leadership development opportunities for young adults in foster care
    • Work flexible schedules include weekend and/or evenings in order to meet program goals. 

As a member of the Indiana Connected by 25 Leadership Team, the Director of Youth Engagement Strategies is expected to:

  • Work with Indiana Connected by 25 team members to shape organizational opportunities and strategies.
  • Represent Indiana Connected by 25 in matters which have significant financial impact/implications
  • Create and manage program budget: track and create reports regarding program expenditures
  • Write regular grant and update reports for funders and program stakeholders.
  • Adhere to confidentiality requirements for all client information.
  • Seek regular professional development and learning opportunities that support the specialized training needed to be effective in your role. 

Education and/or Experience:

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 3-5 years' relevant experience is required. An advanced degree is preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills including an ability to:
  • Demonstrate competency in higher level reasoning skills including analysis, synthesis and evaluation.
  • Provide excellent customer services and constituent relationship skills.

Applicants also should have:

  • Computer proficiency including familiarity with Microsoft Office and SalesForce.
  • Experience using a variety of technological platforms including computers, tablets, and mobile phones.
  • An ability to travel and work long hours as needed.
  • An ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
