We are searching for an individual that has significant Accounting experience in addition to experience in Human Resources and other business practices.

Sagamore Institute is a non-profit think tank located in downtown Indianapolis with a network of research fellows, thought leaders, and partnering organizations working together to turn ideas into actions, and actions into impact.  We are searching for a Controller/Director of Business Operations to support our expanding operations.  The ideal candidate has significant Accounting experience in addition to experience in Human Resources and other business practices.

The Controller/Director of Business Operations is required to perform a broad range of duties with the help of a part-time Accounting Assistant, including, but not limited to:
• Perform all accounting functions including entering vendor bills, printing checks, creating invoices and recording deposits into Abila MIP software
• Prepare monthly financial information for the finance committee and attend the meeting
• Prepare quarterly information for the board of Trustees and attend the meeting
• Perform all human resources functions, including maintaining personnel files, annual employee reviews, processing payroll semi-monthly and serving as liaison with outside payroll/benefits company
• Update cash flow spreadsheet weekly
• Reconcile all bank accounts and credit cards monthly
• Maintain Projection Worksheet
• Review various contracts as they become due
• Set up and manage projects in Salesforce
• Create annual budget with input from management
• Perform accounting functions for various partner organizations
• Assist with annual audit and preparation of information required for Form 990
• Prepare 1099 Forms annually
• Create various reports as needed for management

Education and Qualifications:
• College degree
• At least 3 years non-profit work experience
• Good communication skills
• Proficiency in the use of computer programs such as MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Abila MIP accounting software and Salesforce
• Strong administrative and organizational skills
