The purpose of the Accounting Manager position is to manage all finance and budgeting-related activities of the Arts Council of Indianapolis. In addition, the Accounting Manager serves as the Human Resources staff liaison.
 
Major Areas of Responsibility:
• Responsible for all finance-related activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, all financial reports, reconciliations.
• Responsible for paying on all contracts and all grants payables.
• Responsible for preparation of the agency's annual operating budget.
• Responsible for monitoring all expenditures and revenues with the President & CEO and making recommendations related to expenditures and policies.
• Responsible for managing the agency's annual audit, conducted by an independent auditing firm.
• Prepares the agency's Accounting Policies and Procedures Manual.
• Serves as the Human Resources staff liaison and manages all related employee benefits administration and personnel issues.
• Serves as the staff liaison to the Finance and Audit Committees of the board.
• Advises the President & CEO on all finance-related issues.

Required Skills:
• Exceptional accounting and financial skills (CPA preferred).
• Strong working knowledge of Excel and Quickbooks.
• Previous extensive experience in accounting and financial field required. (Must have 5 years or more previous financial and/or accounting experience).
• Strong understanding of accrual and GAAP accounting (including preparation of financial statements). Not for profit accounting experience desired, but not required.
• Knowledge of human resources and labor laws.
• Strong understanding of audit processes and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, board, members of the public, political entities, and a variety of constituent groups.
• Degree in accounting or financial management. Advanced degree, certification, professional development, or equivalent experience required.
