The Julian Center, the largest organization supporting victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other life crises in Indiana, is seeking a full-time Rape Crisis Center (RCC) Community Advocate. 

The Rape Crisis Center (RCC) Community Advocate is responsible for providing crisis intervention, follow-up services and case management to victims of sexual assault or victims who have experience both sexual assault and domestic violence. In addition, this position facilitates survivor support groups and participates in community education and outreach efforts. The Advocate also coordinates with local law enforcement, Marion County Prosecutor's Office (MCPO), Center of Hope and other community partners on various community and policing initiatives related to serving survivors and systems advocacy in the area of sexual violence.

PLEASE NOTE:  This position requires availability to work one evening per week (until 9pm) as well as rotating on-call duty

Primary Responsibilities:

• Serve on a 24/7 on-call schedule on a rotating basis with other advocates
• Respond to hospitals when called by Center of Hope to serve survivors
• Speak with survivors who call in to our 24 hour hotline
• Manage referrals from local law enforcement, MCPO, Center of Hope or other community partners
• Manage referrals from The Julian Center Crisis Line for callers needing assistance
• Assisting survivors with immediate needs pertaining to safety, well-being and basic necessities 
• Providing case management to sexual assault survivors
• Facilitating non-clinical support groups for survivors
• Grant compliance, data entry and report preparation as appropriate
• Assist with facilitation of community outreach and education events as requested
• Attend community meetings and participate in projects as directed
• Work with the Director maintain and enhance the agency's relationship with law enforcement, community allies and the services provided to clients
• Identifying and cultivating new community partnerships on behalf of The Julian Center particularly to provide avenues to increase access to services to underserved populations

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in  social work, human services, psychology or related field
• At least 2 years of experience in direct service in a social service profession working with traumatized populations
• Working knowledge of Microsoft suite including Word, Power Point and Outlook
• Commitment to non-violent and cooperative work environment
• Commitment to quality and equitable treatment and service provision to all colleagues and survivors regardless of race, ethnicity, sex, gender expression, religion, age or sexual orientation
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to pass a criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications

• Fluency in Spanish
• Knowledge of community resources
• Experience in working with law enforcement and/or medical staff
• Public speaking experience
