The Mass Ave Merchants' Association (MAMA) is hiring their first ever part time employee!  This is an exciting opportunity for a hard-working, self-motivated individual who loves downtown Indianapolis.  This position will require a self-starter who can work with others to make the Mass Ave Cultural District the best that it an be for its local merchants.

Who are we?
Mass Ave Merchants' Association (MAMA) exists to protect, represent, and promote the interests of merchants, service providers and arts and cultural organizations located within the Massachusetts Avenue Cultural District. MAMA is a membership-based organization with 85 members consisting of diverse small businesses, restaurants, theaters, and non-profits on and surrounding Mass Avenue in downtown Indianapolis.   MAMA is organized under Riley Area Development Corporation, a 501c3 non-profit and directed by a nine person MAMA Board of Directors.

The Role
The MAMA Coordinator is responsible for the success of the organization. Together, the MAMA Board and Coordinator will work together to fulfill the MAMA's mission.

The qualities imperative for success as the MAMA Coordinator include initiative, strong work ethic, integrity and the ability to work independently. You will be the "face" of MAMA to our merchants and visitors.   This is a contract position for 2018 and is anticipated to be evaluated for an ongoing annual basis.

Responsibilities
MAMA Board Governance (10%):
• Responsible for communicating effectively with the MAMA Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the MAMA Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
• Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship with the MAMA Board and ensure open communication about issues that may affect the mission of the organization. 
• In partnership with the MAMA Board treasurer and MAMA accountant oversee the financial status of the organization.
• Attend monthly MAMA meetings and Quarterly MAMA Director meetings.
• Compiles and distributes MAMA meeting announcements, MAMA Board Meeting Minutes and Agendas and information on MAMA events to the membership.
• Report to the MAMA Directors at each quarterly meeting on work completed, communications completed and current projects.

Membership Management (15%):
• Maintain and manage association membership including renewals, invoicing, prospecting and outreach
• Manage membership database.
• Act as the primary spokesperson for the association to all media
• Flexible work hours while creating and maintaining accessibility to merchants to assist with questions and challenges as they arise.
• Serve as a liaison between merchants and city resources, affiliated organizations and MAMA Board
• In conjunction with the MAMA Board President and Secretary provide association news and meeting notices to the membership.

Marketing (25%):
• In conjunction with the marketing committee develop and implement a marketing and social media strategy for general promotion and event promotion
• Web and social media: share organizational news, projects, stories and photos on social media outlets (FB, IG and Twitter) and maintain website for Mass Avenue Merchants Association
• Develop marketing materials: Create flyers, signage, and other print and digital media to align with project and programming and share with appropriate funders, partners, and MAMA members.
• Press release and media content creation: maintain relationships and provide content to neighborhood, local and state media partners including newspapers and TV channels.  Work to involve local merchants as media spokespeople for the Mass Ave Cultural District.
• In conjunction with the marketing committee manage the bi-yearly MAMA Map,   This year the Coordinator will  be responsible for the management of the  map redesign, printing and distribution.

Event Management (25%):
• In partnership with the events committee develop and implement a calendar of MAMA events. Four events are anticipated in 2018
• Develop sponsorship levels and seek sponsors for all MAMA events

Development/Fundraising (25%)
• Develop a strategy for diversifying and expanding the association's funding base and set development goals to increase Sponsorships.
• Identify and apply for grants to help maintain the Cultural district, including marketing, and infrastructure
• Plan and implement one  annual fundraising event for MAMA members
