Heritage Place of Indianapolis, Inc. provides older adults with comprehensive and coordinated human services to encourage and promote healthy lifestyles, independence, well-being and quality of life. The Center Program Manager oversees the planning, organizing and implementation of projects (classes, events, activities, services, membership plans and promotions) for the Senior Center Program.

Organization Overview
Heritage Place creates opportunities for independence for older adults.  Through education & learning, companionship & fellowship and community resources information, we provide both in-home services and center-based activities.  The impact we have on older adults results is their continuing to live in their residence of choice and their avoidance of social isolation.  In the last fiscal year, we served nearly 1,700 older adults with over 62,280 hours of service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

A. Classes, Activities, Services, Events - Plan, organize, and implement a full range of Senior Center classes, activities, services and events. Keep accurate and detailed records of all plans.

B. Staff - Recruit and work with volunteers to plan and implement projects, classes, activities, events and services. Supervise all staff in the Senior Center Program.
           
C. Publicity - Promote all Heritage Place services, programs and events. Vehicles include daily announcements, flyers, handouts, tours, newsletters, website, Facebook, and community events.

D. Memberships - Promote, offer incentives and track progress of Senior Center Memberships.

E. Increase Participation - Working with class instructors and program leaders, assist all Senior Center Activities to increase participation using a variety of strategies, including Class Open Houses, incentives, flyers and others.

F. Maintain confidential, accurate and detailed files, records and reports of all clients, staff, volunteers, communications, classes, activities, events and services delivered. Submit reports to the Executive Director, as requested.

G. Complete all necessary analysis, evaluations, surveys and reports in an accurate and timely manner.

H. Adhere to project and office budgets.

I. Make appropriate arrangements for your responsibilities to be covered in your absence.

J. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.

Position Qualifications
To be successful in this position, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The successful Center Program Manager is organized, highly detailed, efficient, and proficient at creating and co-working with teams of volunteers all in a timely manner.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university;  or eight to ten years related experience and/or training;  or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Project management experience and working with volunteers preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common documents.  Ability to respond appropriately to common inquiries or complaints from clients, staff or volunteers.   Ability to effectively present information to top management, volunteer committees, public groups and/or board of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING SKILLS
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

OTHER
Ability to be a self-starter and take "ownership" of assigned duties.
Ability to be organized and to meet deadlines.
Access to transportation for local travel.
Computer literate and ability to learn various software programs.
Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Sensitive to service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
