As a member of the Development team, the Grants Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a year-round focus on maintaining and acquiring new grant funding to support CLD's financial revenue goals. Primary oversight for researching and applying for available grants, collaborating on grant applications, monitoring and coordinating required grant reports, budgets and financial recordkeeping.

Organization Overview:
The mission of the Center for Leadership Development (CLD) is to foster the advancement of minority youth in Central Indiana as future professional, business and community leaders by providing experiences that encourage personal development and educational attainment.

Grants Management
• Provides primary management and oversight of grant research and submission processes ensuring the effective coordination of all proposal and report submissions provided by the Development team
• Develops and maintains comprehensive grants management tracking system and calendar ensuring the successful submission of all grant proposals and reports
• Maintains a year-round focus on grant research, cultivation, proposal submissions and reporting  
• Provides primary oversight of grant management process
• Responsible for soliciting, cultivating and securing grants at all financial levels   
• Researches, writes and delivers grant proposals
• Ensures effective coordination with CLD staff on grant proposal and reporting submissions
• Develop forms, processes, procedures and measurement tools for the purpose of implementation of grants.
• Build relationships and provides stewardship to current funders
• Train staff on all aspects of grants including content, requirements, measurement and reports.
• Recognizes contributions with acknowledgement letters.
• Partners with Development Assistant to ensure effective tracking of all grant proposal submissions and reports in database  
• Maintains knowledge of current trends in charitable giving, particularly in the areas of  major gifts and planned giving

Capital Campaign
• Ensures effective management of new grant opportunities as result of capital campaign
• Ensures the successful tracking, completion and reporting for all grant proposals associated with the capital campaign

Fundraising/Events Management
• Provides support to Development team in effective execution of foundational fundraising events
• Assist with planning and implementing fundraisers and special events as needed.
• Consults with Development Mgr. to determine annual fund/contribution income contributions that have the potential to translate into expanded grant opportunities  
• Leverages opportunities to further engage current and potential grant funders with the goal of achieving expanded partnerships and funding commitments

• Experience in developing grants for education-related projects and activities 
• Ability to take initiative, work independently, and use innovative techniques and ingenuity to prepare grant proposals and reports
• Knowledge of grant research and application processes
• Excellent written, oral communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate and persuasive proposals
• Experience working in deadline-driven environments
• Superior writing, editing and verbal communications skills
• Strong organizational and planning skills and records maintenance a must
• Computer proficiency, particularly in MS Word, MS Excel, Raisers Edge or other fundraising database, and online research.
• Ability to coordinate grant projects with CLD staff and community partners
• Experience working with youth of diverse backgrounds

• BS degree in related field and three or more years of experience in grant development, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary level of skill, knowledge, and ability
• Valid driver's license
