The Blue River Community Foundation (BRCF) is seeking a Program Officer to administer the grants program and provide leadership, collaboration, and education among the county's non-profit organizations.  The position is full time, beginning July 1, 2018. 

Organization overview: 
The Blue River Community Foundation is located in Shelbyville, Indiana and serves all of Shelby County.   Our vision is to encourage philanthropy and inspire action that improves all lives and builds stronger communities in Shelby County.   BRCF was founded in 1988 and is celebrating 30 years this year, in 2018.   BRCF manages over 200 funds, making up over $41 million in assets, which grant nearly $2 million per year, supporting students in higher education, community impact grants, and providing support for the work of many organizations in our community.   

Position duties:
• The Program Officer will work closely with the Executive Director.   All of BRCF work is governed by the Board of Directors.  Some evenings and weekends will be required.
• The Program Officer will lead and administer the BRCF grant-making program, guided by the goals in the Strategic Plan (further detail provided in interview and upon request).
• Work with the E.D. and Board to accept an expanded role and take on new projects as required.
• Expand and implement the BRCF's Capacity Building program, set metrics and follow up to evaluate the success of the program.
• Work with donors that hold Donor Advised Funds to make recommendations, perform due diligence, and complete their requested grants.
• Occasionally speak to community groups about BRCF
• Be familiar with the legal aspects of grant-making and ensure compliance.
• Become familiar about other funding resources that may be available to both BRCF for special projects and our non-profit partners.

Skills and Qualifications:
• A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required
• 3 or more years of experience working in the non-profit or government sector
• Computer and social media proficiency is required
• The ideal candidate will be visionary and creative, enjoy working with many types of people, and have a positive and encouraging demeanor. 
• Knowledge of endowments and community foundations are a benefit
• Public speaking skills are a benefit
