The main objective for the Director of Development will be to design, implement, and manage the development strategy for Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation.

Organization Summary: 
Founded in 1870 at Indiana Asbury (now DePauw University) in Greencastle, Ind., Kappa Alpha Theta is the first Greek-letter Fraternity known among women. In creating Kappa Alpha Theta, our founders were leading the way for women's groups and for women in higher education. Our members are women of all ages: women who attended college in nearly every US state and Canadian province, women who live all over the world, and women with varied professions, faiths, and ethnic backgrounds.  Kappa Alpha Theta currently has over 200,000 living members.  We have chapters on over 140 college campuses across the U.S. and Canada, and over 215 active alumnae groups around the world.  The organization comprises the Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity, Foundation, and Housing Corporation. The Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation is a 57-year-old organization that is dedicated to securing and managing resources for the educational, leadership, and philanthropic programs of the Fraternity and for the scholastic, professional, and service pursuits of its members to help them reach their fullest potential to make a difference in the world. Theta Foundation, governed by an elected Board of Trustees, is a 501(c)3 organization with a current operating budget of over $1 million and an endowment of approximately $32 million.

Essential Functions: 

• Develops strategic vision for Theta Foundation's fundraising initiatives.

• Develops and executes fundraising plan, which includes:

• Developing strategies for identifying, researching, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors and prospects.
- Managing a portfolio of high-level donors/prospects.
- Organizing fund development activities.
- Monitoring progress of plan.
- Managing budget.

• Developing and tracking proposals and reports for all Foundation fundraising activities.

• Promotes Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation and its mission.

• Recruits and trains fundraising staff and volunteer leaders.

• Stays on top of fundraising trends and the non-profit community.

• Works collaboratively and creatively with the marketing/communications team to appropriately position development opportunities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Daily management of development staff.

Travel
Some travel, as well as after-hours and weekend work, is required.

Preferred Education and Experience: 
• A minimum 3 years of development experience required.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Certificate in Fundraising Management or CFRE is preferred.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications: 
• Kappa Alpha Theta membership preferred.
