Through a comprehensive understanding of Advancement data, the Director works with and leads Advancement team members through gathering requirements and establishing universal definitions in support of key performance indicators, metrics, and other related measures to deliver effective department and divisional reports and dashboards. S/he will work with Advancement leaders to create and inform specifications for reporting and analytics projects. This position serves as a bridge between all stakeholders and technical staff to clearly understand and articulate needs based on knowledge of data management and business processes, and translates data into strategic metrics and predictive indicators to information decisions and set goals.

S/he will be responsible for presenting complex data in a simple way and making use of powerful dashboards and ensure high-quality data flows. The successful candidate will have experience developing well-defined data sets, as well as building dashboards and visualizations in Tableau or related products.

Responsibilities:

Facilitate requirements gathering sessions in support of reporting and analytics while engaging business and technical stakeholders and communicating those requirements using alternative views, such as visual analysis models, prototypes, or simulations, where appropriate.

Analyze metrics needed in divisional and departmental reports through an understanding of business practices; articulate complex information with management and project stakeholders.

Develop and implement division-wide analytics, reports, and dashboards to support business objectives.

Collaborate with project stakeholders and constituent groups as well as solution designers to define, identify, and assess viable solutions that meet organizational needs and objectives.

Manage a portfolio of projects of varying sizes and stages, ensuring efficient and effective use of technology and tools to advance the use of information in decision-making.

Display strong organizational skills and the ability to manage large volumes of data in an accurate and meaningful way.

Develop test solutions and ensure projects meet business requirements. Present and validate solutions with business partners.


Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics or related field required.
• Two or more years' experience in data analytics and two or more years' experience in a fundraising environment. Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
• Experience with university or college-based comprehensive fundraising campaign planning and execution is preferred.
• SQL queries, use of Tableau and SPSS, Rapid Insight and Excel, or equivalent combination of experience and skills required.
• Experience with report creation, data schemas, and in-depth analytic methods required.
• Experience using Tableau (ideally certified) with expertise in creating visualizations that provide business insights for internal customers.
• Experience working with relational databases, extracting and manipulating data, preferably using programming language such as SQL. Can independently mine data to translate business data needs into creative and actionable reports and visualizations.
• Project management and business analyst experience is strongly preferred.

Skills:

• Analysis and synthesis of diverse and complex information; excellent analytical and quantitative skills, including ability to manipulate, analyze and interpret data and statistical models.
• Effective verbal and written communication of complex ideas.
• Ability to use discretion in working with sensitive, confidential materials.
• Ability to access data sources, including Oracle RDBMS and other 3rd party systems.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office products, SQL, SPSS or other statistical packages.
• Detail oriented, organized, and able to multi task.
• Strong knowledge of computer spreadsheets and statistical analysis programs.
• Ability to meet deadlines, think strategically, and possess computational skills.
