IYI is seeking a Director of Communications, Marketing & Public Relations to join our team. This position involves independent judgement and a high level of initiative based on experience and public contact work. The position requires personal communication with a wide range of stakeholders including handling confidential information. This position will oversee all media relations, publicity and promotional materials with a special focus on media relations.


• Build IYI's brand through strategic and consistent messaging to internal and external audiences highlighting core messaging, mission and brand.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with external media entities, ensuring maximum visibility of IYI in local, state and regional media outlets.
• Manage and expand IYI's digital presence via social media and email marketing.
• Write, edit, and design major publications for recurring publications such as the monthly column, event promotions and various newsletters.
• Ensure brand continuity through all materials.
• Manage the development and design of marketing material for advertisements, newsletters, direct mail, and public relations materials.
• Manage the marketing, promotions and advertising budget.
• Coordinate and implement marketing projects, ensuring proper approval at the division and/or organization level, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
• Work closely with the CEO's office to position correctly in the external and internal communities; find opportunities to set the CEO up as a thought leader and prepare remarks for important events.
• Write articles, memos and other communications to convey key messages quickly and concisely using a variety of communication vehicles to a range of audiences.
• Continually promote the mission and goals of IYI to entities internal and external in order to enhance the impact and image of the organization.

Position Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in related field and five years of experience in media relations, strategic communications, marketing, advertising, or public relations; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:
• Understanding of market segmentation, principles of marketing, integrated marketing communications principles and branding
• Ability to think creatively, organize tasks, work independently and meet deadlines
• Ability to visually inspect products in multiple formats and assess and improve
• Excellent writing and editing skills including knowledge of Associated Press style
• High degree of attention to detail
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations both verbally and in writing, facilitating the development and maintenance of effective working relationships
• Ability to openly give and receive feedback in a positive manner
• Ability to plan and direct projects from inception to completion, working under tight deadlines with conflicting priorities
• Ability to coordinate and supervise the work of others
• Experience working in a nonprofit environment
• Proficiency in MS Office and requisite publishing, graphic design and media tools

Working Conditions:

• The majority of work for this position is performed in a standard office environment. 
• Generally, there is minimal exposure to hazard or a high degree of discomfort. 
• Position involves sitting, standing, computer work and occasional light lifting. 
• Limited additional hours over the standard work week may be required.
