Indy Reads is seeking an analytical, strategic thinker to serve as Finance Manager for the organization, who can leverage technology to improve and enhance our financial processes and procedures. This is an opportunity for you to further enhance our financial operations, which include our downtown bookstore.

With 1 in 6 Hoosiers reading at or below a sixth-grade level, our mission to promote and improve the literacy of adults and families in Central Indiana is needed now more than ever! We take a community literacy approach to teaching adult students. Through an innovative social learning model, instructors are supported by a team of volunteer tutors in each dynamic classroom setting offered at partner locations throughout the Indianapolis area.

Position Duties
• Process and analyze accounts payable and receivable
• Post monthly transactions to general ledger and make adjustments accordingly
• Prepare deposits
• Monitor cash flow; prepare 3 to 6 month cash flow projections
• Internal financial close:
    o Cash and credit card account reconciliations
    o Deferred revenue reconciliation and adjusting entries
    o Balance sheet account and vendor reconciliations
    o Fixed asset schedule maintenance/recording of depreciation entries
    o Maintenance of temporarily restricted net asset schedule
• Prepare timely monthly and year-end financial reports
• Assist with development of annual and program budgets
• Assist with financial reports for grant reports to foundations
• Annual audit preparation and liaison to auditors
• Staff support to Finance Committee
• Recommend internal policy and procedural controls
• Primary contact with Investment Advisor
• Maintain vendor files
• Enter credit card charges and reconcile statements monthly
• Work with Operations Manager to interface with human resources and payroll

Position Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• 3-6 years of relevant experience in bookkeeping and/or accounting
• Prior nonprofit accounting experience preferred
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP and auditing standards
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proactive approach for implementing needed changes
• Ability to build and maintain cross-departmental relationships
• Experience with Quickbooks, Google G Suite, and Salesforce preferred
