The senior director of operational strategy is responsible for driving staff culture necessary to support the strategic growth of the Sorority; identifying staffing levels necessary for effective and efficient execution; working with the finance and information systems teams to implement the strategic plan while facilitating integration across teams.  

Sigma Kappa was founded at Colby College in Waterville, Maine in 1874. Valuing personal growth, friendship, service, and loyalty, the sorority has initiated over 168,000 women nation-wide. The purpose of Sigma Kappa is "to provide women lifelong opportunities and support for social, intellectual, and spiritual development by bringing women together to positively impact our communities.

Position Duties

  • Responsible for and oversees project management of the operations team (finance and information systems)
  • Create, maintain and implement the strategic direction for the operations team to ensure progress toward key strategic initiatives, deliverables, and action items
  • Oversee the budgeting process, monthly financials, audit and tax filings

o   Review procedures and work with the director of finance to develop efficient processes

o   Review transactions, bank reconciliations and monthly financials

o   Meet with the external audit staff to answer questions, go through business activities for the year

Assist the executive director in all areas of talent management including:

 

  • Assist with staff onboarding
  • Build team environment
  • Drive culture to support strategic growth of organization
  • Enhance staff experience in order to make them successful in their jobs
  • Identify staffing levels necessary for effective and efficient execution of the Sorority's strategies with recommendations to the executive director
  • Create and distribute monthly internal staff communication focusing on development and what is happening in the organization
  • Identify leadership development programs, teambuilding activities and other professional development opportunities for Sorority staff
  • Work with the national vice president for finance to provide support to the Sorority supervised housing team and corporation boards
  • Analyze organizational trends for new development opportunities
  • Perform all supervisory responsibilities including but not limited to conducting team meetings, providing employee feedback and performance reviews for positions within the operations team
  •  Serve as a member of the Sorority leadership team and entity leadership team
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the executive director of Sigma Kappa Sorority

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Position qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Knowledge of the policies and procedures of Sigma Kappa or other membership organization
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and drive process improvement
  • Five plus years' management experience in leading teams or individuals
  • Five plus years' experience in human resource management
  • Excellent writing, client service and communication skills
