The Match Support Specialist assesses the match relations of our volunteers, children and parents/guardians in Hamilton County.

For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life.  As the nation's largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes strong, enduring and professionally supported mentoring relationships between adult volunteers (Bigs) and children (Littles), ages 8 through 18, in communities across the country-including Marion, Hamilton, and Johnson counties in central Indiana.  Big Brothers Big Sisters partners with parent/guardians, volunteers, schools, donors and others in the community to be accountable for helping youth in our program achieve
1) educational success,
2) avoidance of risky behaviors, and
3) higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships. 

Position Duties
• Help ensure new match goal by completing assigned Match Introductions according to BBBSCI standards.
• Continually assess the match relationship through contacts and surveys with a focus on child safety, match relationship development, positive youth development and volunteer satisfaction.  Identify, address, and resolve real and/or potential problems as early as possible.
• Assess and provide for individual training needs, information and support needs for each match participant to assure a positive youth development experience for the child, and successful and satisfying experience for the volunteer.
• Ensure accurate database documentation is completed in AIM according to BBBS Standards and Agency policies & procedures.
• Promote individual and group match activities and encourage the usage of the Big App to support ongoing volunteer involvement with the child and agency affiliation through individualized recognition, annual events, and re-engagement strategies.
• Conduct exit interview by phone with all parties at match closure.  Assess reasons for match closure and re-match potential.   When match terminates pre-maturely or unexpectedly refer exit interview to supervisor for third party assessment.
• Identify and promote re-engagement of volunteers as Bigs, board members, and donors in other volunteer capacities.
• Share with development, engagement, partnership coordinator and/or marketing staff potential partnership relationships and stories as discovered through match contacts with Big, Little and Parent/Guardian.

Position Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree  
• Participation in continuing education programs as requested.
• Experience in assessment and relationship development with child and adult populations with diverse backgrounds, education, demographics, and economic levels; understanding of child development and family dynamics.
