The Health Outreach Specialist provides outreach, education, and training on tobacco prevention and control to the Latino community. The Health Outreach Specialist) assists the Program Director in the implementation of advocacy efforts as well as participates in committees and sub-committees related to tobacco. This position also works with Latino businesses and clinics to educate them about the Indiana Tobacco Quitline. This is a part-time position (20 hours per week).

ILI's mission is to improve health and advance education for the Indiana Latino community through statewide advocacy, research, and culturally responsive programs.

The ideal candidate for the Health Outreach Specialist will possess the following qualifications:
• Bachelor degree, preferably in public health or related field
• Experience with working collaboratively with community-based organizations and diverse communities and managing and conducting community education and outreach
• Non-profit work experience preferred
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

• Interested in eliminating health inequities in the Indiana Latino Community
• Demonstrates the ability to take the initiative on developing creative and innovative methods for outreach
• Available to work evenings and weekends as needed

Specific duties and essential skills for this positon include:
• Assist multi-unit housing complexes to implement smoke free air policies
• Represent ILI at community health events
• Provide outreach to health clinics, businesses, and organizations about the Indiana Tobacco Quitline to increase the number of referrals to the Quitline
• Make presentations to youth and adults about the harms of tobacco
• Work with employers to develop prevention and cessation programs which include enrolling in the preferred employer network and developing appropriate tobacco-free campus policies
• Assist with implementing the Getting a Head Start on Living Tobacco Free toolkit
• Work with school districts to pass a comprehensive tobacco free policy
