The Chief of Staff in the Office of the Vice President of University Clinical Affairs (VPUCA) and Dean of the School of Medicine assists and advises the VPUCA/Dean. The incumbent supports the VPUCA/Dean with planning, directing, monitoring and implementing the strategic agenda for the School of Medicine and increasing alignment with the Health Sciences Schools of Indiana University. On a day-to-day basis, the incumbent will interface with a wide range of disparate issues within the context of the "big picture", with wide authority to act on behalf of the VPUCA/Dean.

This role coordinates and interacts heavily with senior leaders including the Executive Vice Dean, Executive Associate Deans, Vice Presidents, Chancellors, Deans, Chairs and IU Health executives and healthcare affiliate leadership, as well a wide range of external public and private partners on a diverse range of strategic, operational, political and organizational issues. The incumbent serves as the VPUCA/Dean's representative in selected internal and external interactions.

Additional responsibilities include:
•         Partner with executive leadership on projects that support the missions and strategic priorities, including enterprise alignment, re-accreditation, strategic planning, HIPAA privacy and security and other compliance related initiates, etc.
•         Oversee the planning, execution and follow-up activities for key leadership meetings and high profile school special events such as White Coat and Commencement, including remarks, hosting dignitaries, and other high-level logistics on behalf of the Dean's Office.
•         Manages and oversees communications of the Office of the VPUCA/Dean and directs internal and external communications relative to school strategic objectives and priorities. In partnership with the Director of Strategic Communications, oversees the Office of Strategic Communications' efforts to enhance the internal and external profile of the school's missions and to achieve measurable outcomes.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline such as, Public Health, Health Administration, Business Administration, or Management, plus 10 years of progressive experience in an advisory role, preferably in a higher education institution, and 5 years of management experience, including oversight for the operation of a unit.
