The mission of the Eastern Star Church ministry is evangelism and discipleship. We are committed to the great commission instituted by Jesus Christ that is to nurture and save souls. (Matthew 28:18-20). Everything we do through our CARE Center is to live out the vision that the Lord has given to our church family. The Outreach Manager serves as an integral part of the ESC CARE Center team that manages outreach efforts, case management, support services, and community development. The purpose of this role is to provide direct client services through outreach programs and a network of referral resources that serve the community and ESC members in need or in crisis.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide five-star service to clients by managing the intake process for assistance (rent, utility)  and the food pantry, facilitating support groups, and engaging the community in a manner that is professional, poised, and highly-compassionate.
• Serve as a connector of people, resources, and referrals to ensure that clients are receiving access to high-quality programming that is conducive for enhancing the overall mental, spiritual, and financial health of those in need.
• Facilitate the recruitment and retention of volunteers; provide supervision to the outreach coordinator to ensure that objectives are being met, policies are being adhered to, and that operations are efficient and effective.
• Create and maintain a system of metrics to measure the success of programs, to understand diverse client populations, and to ensure that services are all-encompassing and reaching those with the greatest needs.
• Provide routine reports that identify trends, outreach direction, and challenges. Perform regular administrative tasks to ensure files are organized and complete,
 
QUALIFICATIONS AND IDEAL CHARACTERISTICS

To qualify for this role, one must hold a Bachelor's of Science in Social Work, Human Services, or a related study, a minimum of three to five years of related experience, and a strong:
• Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with clients, staff, resource referrals, and members of the church and community.
• Ability to think critically, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
• Ability to organize, plan, prioritize work, and manage time while orienting on details with an innate ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced environment while being flexible.
• Knowledge of program management principles involved in strategic planning and coordination of people and resources and the ability to establish long-range objectives and specific strategies and actions to achieve them.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing member and community services while actively looking for ways to help people.  This includes member needs assessment, meeting quality standards for service, and evaluation of effectiveness.
• Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
• Ability to model active learning and listening by understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making. Ability to be detail oriented giving full attention to what other people are saying, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
• Aptitude to perform day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining files and processing paperwork. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and substantial experience with systems such as Microsoft Suite, i.e., Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to communicate articulately and effectively in English with co-workers, members, and others both inside and outside the church whether in writing or by telephone or email.
• Ability to provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
