INRC is seeking community-minded individuals to become AmeriCorps Public Allies. Allies help advance nonprofits by providing capacity building support while also engaging in their own leadership and professional development.

INRC's goal is to increase neighbor engagement throughout Indianapolis neighborhoods, to increase leadership skills in neighborhood leaders, and to increase community building activities in our neighborhoods.

The Public Allies Indianapolis program includes a full-time, 10 month apprenticeship with a local nonprofit organization. From September through June, Allies help nonprofits by contributing their skills and experiences to help improve and expand the organization's capacity. As an Ally you may recruit and manage volunteers at a food bank, pilot a new program in schools, or increase community engagement. Throughout the program, you'll strengthen your networking, collaboration, communication, and project management abilities. You'll learn valuable leadership and professional skills, work with diverse individuals, get coaching and support, and build a network of leaders to help you achieve your career and personal development goals.

Prospective Allies must meet the following requirements:
• Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Received a high school diploma or its equivalent

Public Allies Indianapolis AmeriCorps members are eligible for:
-       A monthly living allowance of $1,500
-       Health insurance, child care assistance, access to SNAP benefits, and eligibility for student loan deferment
-       An education award of $5,920 after successfully completing the program to pay for future education expenses or student loans
