Working as part of the fundraising team and reporting to the Vice President, Development, the Riley Society Gift Officer plays a critical role in developing and executing strategies to build and expand individual donor membership in Riley Society through solicitation of gifts of $1,000 to $10k+.  The Riley Society Gift Officer fulfills quantifiable expectations related to identifying and acquiring new members and renewing and upgrading support from current or lapsed members, ultimately leading to a lifetime engagement of these donors through annual or major gift support.  The Riley Society Gift Officer provides donors with the highest level of "customer service."  
 
To create a major gift culture, all fundraising staff at the Foundation are expected to know how to identify and refer major gift/corporate gift prospects and donors to the appropriate gift officer. It is essential for each fundraiser to develop a mindset and the necessary skills that result in urgent identification and referral.
 
Foundation, regional and individual staff goals are set annually and are expected to grow toward the Foundation's strategic plan and annual business plan.
 
Reporting to:  Vice President, Development (Annual Fund)
 
Overview of Key Responsibilities

1.  Fundraising (Track through Contact Reports in Convio)
Plan:  Review pipeline and determine appropriate strategy for reaching annual goals.  Write plan to achieve planned results.
Portfolio:  Build and manage portfolio of 100-125 donor prospects.  (Measured by Portfolio Management in Convio)
Face-to-face visits: Schedule and conduct meetings with donors.  Track through contact reports in Convio.  Metric set annually.
Discovery calls:  Schedule and conduct discovery calls with prospects.  Track through contact reports in Convio.  Metric set annually.
Solicitations: Strategize and make solicitations for new and renewing Riley Society members.  Track through contact reports in Convio.  Metric set annually. Solicit gifts from $1,000 to $10,000+.
Upgrades: Increase support of current Riley Society members.  Track through contact reports in Convio.  Metric set annually.
Referrals:  Collaborate with Major Gift Officers, Corporate Gift Officers and our Grateful Family Officer to make appropriate qualified referrals.  Metric set annually.
 
2.  Administrative
Administrative:  Maintain accountability to administrative systems and procedures including submitting expense reimbursements, credit card reconciliations, invoices, reports, RCF calendar additions, etc., by the deadlines assigned.
Meetings:  Prepare for and actively participate in all Riley Children's Foundation meetings as appropriate.  Ensure expectations and tools for meeting agendas and follow-up are implemented.
Budget:  Work with your officer/direct manager to develop, manage and monitor the budget, staying within overall budget guidelines.
Technology:  Understand and effectively use the technology available at the Riley Children's Foundation.
Compliance:  Work closely with the Leadership Team to ensure strict compliance with bylaws, federal laws and regulations governing 501(c)(3) transactions, donor expectations and agreements and with Riley Children's Foundation Board of Governors' policies and procedures.
 
3.  Riley Children's Foundation Representative
Presentations:  Represent Riley Children's Foundation through delivering public speeches about the organization and its mission to the external public (using Presentation Advantage guidelines).  Follow Foundation procedure for coordinating President/CEO speaking engagements.
Tours:  Give tours of the hospital, as appropriate.
 
4.  Other Duties as Assigned
Riley Children's Foundation events:  Participate in Riley Children's Foundation Events as requested.
Other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
Education:  Bachelor's degree required.  
Experience:  Minimum 2-4 years' fundraising experience (individual ask) or equivalent client-focused environment.   High level of knowledge of an overall donor or customer experience model.
Skills:  Solid relationship building.  Ability to interact successfully with others, both in person and through phone, e-mail, and written correspondence.  Understanding of individual donor needs and perceptions.  Strong ability to speak in public.  Excellent written communication.  Sensitivity to needs of donors.  Problem-solving, research and analytical skills.  Attention to detail and organization.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word & Excel) and Outlook.  Proficiency in use of databases.
