This position will support user-centered access to resources by performing copy and original cataloging, taking a lead role in collection and record maintenance, and promoting use of the collection through various library initiatives. Must be passionate about working with the public and support HEPL's goal to be a dynamic contributor to the Fishers/Noblesville community. The successful candidate will embrace the idea of change and growth, and the use of inclusive, ethical cataloging practices. Experience with, or interest in, Linked Data is a plus.

* Catalog library materials according to our guiding principles of Innovation, Discovery, Equality and Access.
* Efficiently transform vendor prepared records to meet our high standards of cataloging and match existing database.
* Collaborate with other library staff to define cataloging needs and implement solutions that ensure user-centered access to resources across search platforms
* Create rich descriptions for cataloged materials to support Linked Data functionality
* Act as a collection maintenance liaison to other staff, ensuring that collections are consistently weeded and high-demand items are replaced and updated
* Utilize integrated library system software to proficiently search, create title records, create and edit call level or copy level information, verify and edit holding codes, and maintain integrity and consistency in bibliographic entries.
* Work directly with our patrons at a public service desk for regular shifts, providing guidance and assistance with customer requests regarding the use of library services, facilities, resources, and equipment in accordance with HEPL hospitality guidelines.
* Perform all other duties as assigned.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
* Bachelor's degree and an Indiana Library Certificate V or higher is required. MLS preferred.
* Minimum of one year of previous library experience is preferred.
* Previous professional catalogue or library management system experience is preferred.

* Adaptability – Willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities; open to change and variety within the workplace; works hard to implement successful change in areas of responsibility; recommends and implements changes to improve processes and customer service.
* Image – Portrays a positive image of library; is a strong public ambassador and promotes library programs and services during customer interactions.
* Technical – Proficiency in using computers and related software; experience with library management system software, including cataloging systems and public interface systems.
