The Director of Community Development will lead and provide the development and implementation of initiatives supporting partnership development and neighborhood engagement in support of the CAFÉ strategic plan. This position will facilitate and lead community development through partnerships, and guide neighborhood quality of life planning. The Director will oversee and manage the implementation of specific community development activities and partnerships in the areas of affordable housing, economic development, workforce development, education and public communication and awareness.
 
Vision of Accomplishments:
• Increased social capitol- The networks of relationships among people who live and work in a particular area will grow and strengthen, enabling the community to function more effectively.
• Increased social cohesion- Engaged residents will have the space and opportunity to unite and work together for the common good of the community, adding to the community's assets and naturally dismantling some of the circumstances that incubate issues and concerns.
• Increased community involvement- Engaged and organized neighbors are more active in conversations and decision-making process regarding their communities. They are also more willing to participate in activities that support and promote the vitality of the neighborhood.
 
Essential Functions:
• Leads Community Development, Partnership Development and Neighborhood Engagement strategies; goal 40 neighbors are active in QOL planning process and sustainability of the QOL plan.
• Oversees and manage activities in the CAFÉ strategic plan; goal of 15 community programs supported and 10 new community partnerships developed in conjunction with partners, funders, stakeholders, civic leaders and neighborhood residents.
• Oversees the effective functioning of QOL committees. Organizes committees in a manner to meet the community development and quality of life plan objectives and goals. (See QOL plan for specifics)
• Provides direct support to partners on various efforts and initiatives; such as Far Eastside Collective Impact Council, Far Eastside Action Coalition, Indy East Redevelopment Committee, Good Food Connections, and others to increase community collaborations.
• Provide hands-on skill development and capacity building to neighborhood residents, groups, organizations and institutions. In addition, working with these groups to identify and nurture emerging leaders in the neighborhood.
• Create and share communication strategies and stories about the neighborhood, community events and successes.
• Develop relationships with 10 funders, write grant proposals, manage project budgets on the local, state, regional, and national levels.
• Build CAFÉ's relationships with local businesses for workforce development, corporate relations and community support with a goal of partnering with 15 business in year one.
• Represent CAFE at neighborhood events; participation in CAFÉ programs will increase by 10%.
• Develops and manages the communication strategies for partners, funders, stakeholders, civic leaders and neighborhood residents.
• Other duties as assigned by the CEO.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Minimum education- Bachelor's degree, Master's degree highly preferred.
• Minimum experience- 5-10 years community development and neighborhood engagement
• Knowledge of community organizing, CDC and Housing, neighborhood development
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Time management required to identify priorities; able to manage multiple and competing priorities effectively
• Work independently and remotely as needed
• Experience working with diverse and underserved populations
• Dependable; flexible scheduling as needed
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
• Other duties as assigned
