Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. The Matching Specialist will lead the organization in serving more youth in the Indianapolis area through monitoring Bigs and Littles approved for matching and making matches to result in long lasting mentoring relationships.  We seek a highly-motivated professional who can both work independently and thrive as part of a collaborative team. For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life.  As the nation's largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes strong, enduring and professionally supported mentoring relationships between adult volunteers (Bigs) and children (Littles), ages 8 through 18, in communities across the country-including Marion, Hamilton, and Johnson counties in central Indiana.  Big Brothers Big Sisters partners with parent/guardians, volunteers, schools, donors and others in the community to be accountable for helping youth in our program achieve 1) educational success, 2) avoidance of risky behaviors, and 3) higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships. 
 
Position Duties
• Present potential matches via phone using BBBS Match Presentation Process.
• Place applicants into pending matches.
• Schedule Match Introduction dates by calling volunteer, child and parent/guardian.
• Monitor all pending matches and the ready-to-be-matched queues to ensure timely movement through the matching process.  Maintain contact with those waiting to be matched.
• Conduct re-assessments over the phone which include but are not limited to safety information, orienting and completing documents needed for enrollment or re-matching purposes.
• Complete youth outcome survey tool with youth over the phone.
• Schedule Volunteers for MT 101 and 1:1 trainings as needed.
• Provide appropriate outside referrals as needed.
• Be an ambassador for BBBSCI by representing BBBS in a professional manner, identifying and seizing opportunities to recruit volunteers and to further the mission of BBBSCI.
• Report any suspicious or evidence of child endangerment, abuse and/or neglect.
• Attend all Staff and appropriate Department meetings.
• Conduct volunteer and youth interviews as requested.
• Conduct Mentor 101 trainings as needed.
• Work closely with Youth and Volunteer Enrollment, identifying needs for recruitment.
 
Position Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree. 
• Will be required to participate in continuing educations programs as requested.
• Experience in social services, education and child development preferred.
• Must have reliable transportation.  Drivers of privately owned vehicles must have valid driver's license and meet state required automobile insurance minimums.  May be required to transport clients.
• Required to travel approximately 10% of time to meet agency needs (often in places of employment or individual homes), attend conferences and meetings, etc.  Travel is generally within Central Indiana.
• Must have reliable transportation.  Drivers of privately owned vehicles must have valid driver's license and meet state required automobile insurance minimums.  May be required to transport clients.
• Availability to work some evenings.
