The Human Resources Assistant handles and provides support for various HR employee programs within the organization.  This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas:  employee benefits (including group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, 403(b) plan, Worker's Compensation, and WMM leave programs), recruiting practices, new hire orientations, payroll procedures, and general personnel changes.

The Human Resources Assistant's duties include tasks within the following areas.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
a. Assists the Director of Human Resources in the daily administration of HR services as directed or assigned, including but not limited to recruitment and selection, performance evaluation, training.
b. Administers and develops human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel, assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains Staff Manual.
c. Coordinates enrollment in the group health, term-life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, dental, vision, AFLAC, and 403(b) retirement plans.  Communicates with service providers and third-party administrators concerning the routine administration of benefit programs.
d. Verifies the calculation of monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintains accurate records of 403(b) loan disbursements.  Reconciles benefit statements with payroll deductions.  Assists the Director with preparation of documents and information for annual 403(b) plan audit.  Assists the Director to evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
e. Assists with implementation of new benefit plans by preparing announcements, handout materials, and other educational or training media for presentation to employees.  Assists or conducts employee meetings, arranges for enrollment of employees in voluntary benefit plans.  Develops and conducts seminars and in-service training programs designed to increase employee understanding of complicated benefit programs.
f. Maintains human resource information system records (electronic and paper) in compliance with WMM Confidentiality Statement, applicable legal requirements and HIPAA regulations.  Maintains company organization charts, employee directory, and compiles reports from Paycom and other database sources as needed.
g. Prepares and maintains employee permanent personnel files, assuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentially.  Conducts background verifications, insures compliance with I-9 and State of Indiana new employee statutes.
h. Maintains and expands knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and regulations affecting human resources management and overall objectives of the organization.
i. Assists the Director of Human Resources monitor and manage all tasks necessary to accomplish the organization's biweekly payroll processing objectives including but limited to:  facilitates supervisor and employee understanding of Paycom timekeeping and payroll procedures, review Paycom electronic timeclock and timesheet information for accuracy and completeness, contact supervisors for any missed time or inaccuracies, prepare biweekly payroll for final internal approval and transfer to Paycom for processing.

Qualified candidates for the Human Resources Assistant position will possess the following qualities or experience:
a. Possess a sincere love of Christ and maintain a Christian walk that is evident of that love.  Individual must be willing to sign and adhere to the WMM Statement of Faith. 
b. Human Resources Aptitude.
c. Interpersonal Skills – maintains confidentiality, remains open to others' ideas and exhibits a willingness to try new things; prioritizes work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans. 
d. Adaptability – adapts well to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.  The ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates and be equally effective working on individual projects requiring minimal direct supervision.
e. Oral Communications – speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrates group presentation skills and the ability to conduct meetings.
f. Written Communications – routinely edits work for spelling and grammar errors, presents numerical data effectively and able to read and interpret written information.
g. Dependability – consistently at work and on time, willing to work overtime when required, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve personal performance.
h. A bachelor's degree in human resource management or related field of study.  Knowledge of specialized human resources principles or techniques equivalent to those that would normally be obtained through in-depth specialized training or equivalent experience directly related to human resource management, benefit administration, compensation or payroll.
i. Must possess a valid state issued driver's license and be insurable.
j. Extensive experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook software.
k. Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management in a non-profit organization is preferred.
l. HRCI-PHR, SHRM-CP, and/or IF-CEBS certified preferred.
